Obiwan, the bar that everybody loves and nobody goes to

I went there once and I can't say there was anything to merit a return, although this was a fairly quiet afternoon and early evening, so maybe it gets more interesting later.

What's good about the top 4(excluding obiwan)?

Joseph here, co-owner of 12sqm. I can only speak for my own bar, not the other three that make up the top four, but here's a list of things that I think make our bar 'good':

- friendly owners who actually work at the bar and talk to the customers rather than just relying on a theme or gimmick to bring the punters in
- reasonable prices with absolutely no fake alcohol
- huge selection of hard to find liquor
- good range of imported and local beers without the same shitty beers you see in every other bar (I'm talking about you guys, Bud, Carlsberg and Corona).
- the bar is kept warm in winter and cool in summer. No skimping on a few kuai of electricity.
- great location at the 'quiet' end of NLGX showcasing tradtional hutong architecture. There were only houses here when we opened in 2007, how things have changed.
- good service. Want to order food from the restaurant next door but don't speak Chinese and eat it in our bar? No problem! We'll sort it out. Need some chuanr delivered? Easy.
- music can be chosen by customers if they have an iphone or ipod touch from our music library of over 5000 songs using the remote app. Pretty nifty feature, puts a jukebox in your hand. Any other bars offer this?
- unpretentious clientelle. We have about a 50/50 mix of locals and foreigners.
- smoke-free bar
- a real bar. You know, huge chunk of wood you can sit at and get your legs under. Or lean against. Not too many of those around.

Plenty of other things - why not come down and visit? We've just finished the expansion, now we have 45sqm of space to play with.

Thanks Joseph. You seem a friendly person already so it's likely that you have friendly bar staff. I seldom go to quiet bars, and I go to bars for smoking. I like B52

I have ever been to 12SQM, FUBAR, GINKGO, LUSH....for I like drinking beers, all styles.

But, in a bar named Yugongyishan bar, I tasted Brewdog beer, I like it very much!

Bed is cool, but it's absolutely f-ing empty all the time apart from after about 11pm on a Friday or Saturday is the only time I've seen it get remotely busy, and then it shuts at 2am lol.

They've got a 'dancefloor' that nobody can ever be arsed using, but if they opened a bit later maybe people would be sufficiently well-oiled to bother with it. Or maybe people just can't be arsed getting off the beds.

This place has potential but there's never anybody in there except sometimes a big party of Yanks will invade and fill the place up. f*** knows who's voting for it here, unless it's those types.
