Are there any indoor tracks anywhere in Beijing? I'm losing my mind running on the boring treadmills in the gym, and the cold weather + polluted air make running outdoors a less than attractive option.
That's good Twinkie Paul but she said she was tired of the treadmills.
I sneak into a university track and run there for free now. Nobody even looks twice at me and even if they do just say you are an English teacher at the university.
No ID required and is hardly like you are trespassing if they catch you as the gate is open.
i go to beihang uni running track...its a good place, they have a few i/nat students that i speak to in english, plus their female sprinters are way cute. its open for public from 4.30pm to 8 or 9pm. check it out
Just posted this on two other threads, but anyways, feel free to join us!

Hey!
I'm coaching a group of marathon runners (100 runners, mostly Chinese but a few foreigners as well) of varying level (3 hrs-6 hrs) every Sunday in Chaoyang Park. Not extremely tough, but varying intervals, strength & speed training which should be inspiring to both experienced runners & newbies. It's sponsored by Chinese sportsbrand Li-Ning, and free of charge! For more info, check out www.heyrobics.com or www.heyrobics.com/locations!
We're also a group of faster runners (31 min/10 k, up to 45 min 10/k) running during mornings (2-3 times/week) in or around Chaoyang Park, as well as in the mountains on Saturday mornings for as long as the weather allows.
Feel free to join in at any of the above (or for the Heyrobics, for that part, which is used as complimentary training for various sports)!

Re: Indoor track/running options
I find interval running on the treadmill interesting.
3 mins medium speed, 1 minute fast, repeat 8 times.
So say 12 kph for mid speed, 16 kph for the fast.
And you can vary it around like just before you sprint take the speed down to 10 kph for 30 seconds. Stuff like that.
