Any kindergarten teachers here? Need advice...

How do you keep 3 year olds (or, even 2 year olds) busy for an hour?

I've just added a kinders branch to my school, and it's okay but I could use more ideas...

Action games (simon says, run to the card, "stand on blue!" etc.)

Art activities: colouring in..

Stacking blocks..
Songs...

Anything else?

How do you keep their attention?

Nerd Babies are the toughest human beings to be managed.

But it is said even the naughtiest boy will become good when in a group.

Angel Do their parent want them to learn english from now on? Wow, I cann't imagine.

Be ready. Haha...

Married

Re: Any kindergarten teachers here? Need advice...

Action Songs, Disney English DVDs, nail one foot to the floor?

Men of all sorts take a pride to gird at me: the brain of this foolish-compounded clay, man, is not able to invent anything that tends to laughter, more than I invent or is invented on me.

Re: Any kindergarten teachers here? Need advice...

Holy sh*t dude, how can you be in a position that you are in charge (your school?) of 2 kindergarten classes and need to post on this forum for ideas on what to do with them!

2 to 3 year old's are actually considered nursery, not Kindergarten. Kindergarten starts at around 5.

It is almost certainly the most important time of life for the development of the brain.

People are paying to send their children to a your school?
Dude, dude, dude, WTF?

Please tell me it's not as it reads!

For extra ideas.

I've already built a 60-class curriculum.

Re: Any kindergarten teachers here? Need advice...

I always like teaching kids "Stare at the wall"

You know, they have to sit there silent and perfectly still. The first one to say something loses. That should give you a nice 10 minute break every now and again.

Re: Any kindergarten teachers here? Need advice...

Do parents send kids to your school learning English?

I would teach them to sing songs with repeated simple sentence, like "where is your nose? here, here is my nose....Where are your ears, here here are my ears....", with gesture and dance.

One of best ways to make kids quiet is ask them to look after their stuffed animals/doll. Kids have unbelievable capability to communicate with toys, they are so quiet and cute when they are talking with a stuffed animals.

Swinge with music. "Jump on my shoes" to dance is great reward for kids

BTW, what i suggested is suitable for girls pretty well. I have less ideas to handle boys

Jesus Blucat you have really been indoctrinated haven't you?

That is the most ridiculous post I have ever read from you.

I taught at two kindergartens in my illustrious teaching career in China.

The kids ARE aged 2,3,4.

Aren't you a PROPER teacher as in your profile?

What age are Grade One primary school students then Einstein?

8?

An what's with the judgmental negative attitude?

A guy achieves here in China and you wanna knock him down and insult him when he is asking for extra help?

I mean I know most standard Kiwis are judgmental, conservative and have large chips on their shoulders but I thought living in China for so long you may have been able to discard some of those qualities.

As to Remmy, mate, usually the classes last about twenty minutes as the kids attention span is limited and they get tired.

Lot's of games, London Bridge, Ten little Indians, Ring a ring of Roses, If You'r Happy and you know it, clap your hands.

Lot's of words on cards and get the students to identify the different words and pick up the cards and so on.

A good one is get them to bowl a ball each and what they knock over is on top of a word card then they need to stand in front and say the word. Only teach them about 4 to 5 new words each class and always review the previous class words as well.

Hide and seek, hide items in the classroom.

Musical chairs.

If I think of any stuff I will post it.

Good luck mate and wll done.

And Blucat, get your attitude in check man, I know you have joined that special club, but try have an independent thought now and again, if you can.

In China, Kindergarten Costs More Than College

Happy New Year 2Bi! I hereby grant you early release for a month of good behavior.
Don't violate your parole though, naughty naughty!

*Big effing groan*

You're a writer so you must be quite the wordsmith

Do you truly not see the irony in your usage of the words 'illustrious' and 'career' together in a sentence when talking about yourself?

And you wonder why people give you crap and mock you incessantly

Re: Any kindergarten teachers here? Need advice...

I was being facetious Monkey King.

Isn't it about time you opened a couple of new ID's?

I think people are starting to suspect.

Wink

Re: Any kindergarten teachers here? Need advice...

Nothing ever gets by you, does it?

You would've given Sherlock Holmes a run for his money

You're right - i will get a few more IDs just to try and confuse you

It's going to be so fun

Like internet hide and seek

In the meantime, why don't you f*** off and work on that illustrious novel of yours

I've recently been placed in charge of two hospital wards-any ideas what I should do with the patients?

I've recently acquired an accountancy business. Any ideas on how to do a tax return?

I've recently expanded in architecture, and ideas on how to design a patio?

There is a reason any and every developed country requires people train for a minimum of 3 years to be a teacher.

The list of activities you provide Rob is about as wonderful an example as I could come up with why most unqualified people have no business teaching.

Remmy is a good guy-but I have to stand be my original post. Would you put your children in a hospital where the doctors had to post on a website like this to get ideas on what to do with their patients?

You taught young children Rob? Now there's a scary thought.

It's too late, Blucat has turned.

He is now a fully fledged member of the poodles.

Now sadly incapable of an independent thought and with delusions of grandeur.

You don't even know what a Chinese kindergarten is you retard, gee all those 5 and 6 year olds running around in those tiny rooms with the tiny chairs.

Silly

My initial post in hindsight is probably badly worded.

I was really just asking for more ideas (for my teachers) how to keep very young kids focussed.

You're an idiot Black, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

The really embarrassing part though, is that you think if you attack me, Remmy will then think you're an OK kind of guy.

Although I strongly disagree with the OP, Remmy and I were discussing the thread. That kind of respectful dialogue was probably quite confusing to you Robert, which explains why you didn't recognize it.

As I said in reply to your threatening PM ("Grrrr, watch out, my Daddy's bigger than yours Grrr, grrrr") GROW UP.

Re: Any kindergarten teachers here? Need advice...

You should've asked those questions before you got into it.

Good luck

Re: Any kindergarten teachers here? Need advice...

I generally bring a big bag of M-80 mega-size fire crackers to class. Kids who get a right answer are given a match. Also the Beer-Picture Bee is a sure winner. The kid who first shouts out the English word for a given picture gets to quaff a paper cup of Tsingtao. For less structured activities, just give the kids an armload of newspaper, a bottle of gasoline, and a Zippo. They'll amaze you with what they come up with!

Yes, sharing is caring. There's nothing wrong with Remmy wanting to get some different ideas from other people.
