Slightly complicated visa situation ! Can any one help !
OK, here we go....................
I came to Beijing with my wife 4 years ago she had an invitation letter an all relavant documents.
She got her work visa sorted when she arrived and began with the company and i was allowed to stay as part of my wifes visa, but not allowed to work fulltime.
We used the same visa agency every year to renew the documents and so she continued to work and i was able to stay another year without any problems, as long as i didnt do fulltime work.
Now we are into our fourth year here but me and my wife have split and are in the divorce process which wont be finalised until june this year, she has also recently set up a franchise with another buissness partner and she has a new visa agency taking care of her documents so i am no longer included with those documents.
My resident - visa that was linked to hers will expire on the 17th of april 2010 and im totaly confused what i should do, i want to be here long term and im currently in the process of setting up long term work but nothing is guarnteed, i just need to sort the problem of renewing the visa type i have and staying here for as long as possible.
In short... resident permit - visa that is linked to my wifes visa, how do i renew it now that she has changed job and changed visa agency and we are no longer living together AND MINE WILL EXPIRE ON THE 17TH OF APRIL 2010
Do i use a visa company ? do i have to leave the country ? cost ?

If theres any good companies or people in a similar situation out there that can sort this problem out for me and let me know if i have to leave the country i would be very gratefull if you could email me on..

please do not worry about that.
firstly, you need to find a house to live in,then you should go to police station to update the resident permit.
then would you please tell me what visa type are you hold now.
last, you may get a F visa for 6 months and then extend it for another 6 months.the price is very cheap.
hope useful

Re: Slightly complicated visa situation ! Can any one help ...
Hi there,
For ur current situation, if u wanna sort it out without going outside of China, ul have to apply for working visa. Or else, ul have to go out to apply for new visa to enter China.
If you wanna apply for working visa, u need to start earlier, as the whole procedure will cost 26working days.
Need my help or more info., feel free to contact me.

Hi Phyllis,
Maybe i would apply for a working visa, but i work for myself as an artsit, im not with a company or school i make work ndependently and sell privatly or through a gallery, could i get a work visa by myself for my type of work, or should i continue with a f visa ? i just want to be in Beijing as long as possible and my resident permit expires 17th of april 2010.
Maybe its impossible to get a work permit if you work as an independent artist, what do you think

Re: Slightly complicated visa situation ! Can any one help ...
Hi,
As you said, ul need a company to sponsor for a Z visa, normally ur employer will help you with Z application as they will supply some documents for you. Or u can ask for an agency to spsonor with Z visa.
Or else, ul have to leave China mainland to apply for a new visa, F visa will b good for u, can b extended to 1yr directly in Bj.
Good luck.

Re: Slightly complicated visa situation ! Can any one help ...
For your case, there are two options for you, either change your current Resdence permit(which relies on your wife)to Residence permit(as a independent work visa holder) wihout going out. Or you can apply Business invitation letter, go to HK to get F visa with this letter. Then when you be back, you can extend F visa for 6 months or 1yr.
Hope everything will be sorted out,and goes smoothly

Re: Slightly complicated visa situation ! Can any one help ...
Since you work for yourself, it will be hard to apply for a work visa. As you know, both the employer company and you need to provide some documents to apply for the work visa. And it takes quite a long time to finally get the work visa. Please refer to the following link for the documents required and the processing procedure.
http://www.cn-visa.com/zvisa_application.asp
Nowadays, original bachelor degree certificate and 2-year work reference letter are required, too.
As your residence permit expires on April 17, I am afraid there is no enough time to find a satisfying employer and in turn prepare the documents required.
You can go to HK to apply for a new visa. You'd better get an F visa, instead of an L visa.
After coming back to Beijing, you can have the short F visa extended.
To apply for an F visa in HK, you need apply for an F visa notification letter in Beijing. It takes about 6 working days to have it done.
