How come Tiger beer costs more than other local beer?

Is it because it doesn't taste like piss?

Re: How come Tiger beer costs more than other local beer?

Is it any good? I have not tried it. I like the special Yangjing, little more expensive, 5.50 or so for the big green bottle, but it has more alcohol and tastes a little better than the regular cheap Yangjing beer.

I will have to try some of that Tiger piss. =-)

Re: How come Tiger beer costs more than other local beer?

iztel, check the label ... Tiger isn't a local beer.

Re: How come Tiger beer costs more than other local beer?

Tiger beer is 4.7 percent alcohol, while Yanjing and even Budweiser is a paltry 3.6 percent.

Also, Tiger tastes a lot better.

Even Asahi and Carlsberg are only 4.3 percent, so recently I've been drinking Tiger and quite like it.

So where is Tiger beer from? As long as it is not made by Budweiser, that stuff gives me headaches!

Re: How come Tiger beer costs more than other local beer?

I believe it's from Singapore.

I used to have a Singaporean boss, and he drank the stuff exclusively.

Re: How come Tiger beer costs more than other local beer?

Tiger's from Singapore originally. Though it's incredibly popular all over southern Asia.

Re: How come Tiger beer costs more than other local beer?

That's what confused me. I was looking for pilsner urquel or lech at walmart and saw the tiger beer which I had at some expensive expat oriented bar. It was like 6rmb for a small can and it was brewed in China while most Chinese beers are 2-4rmb for the big bottles. Tsingtao is awful and bingshan is just so so.

Re: How come Tiger beer costs more than other local beer?

Yes, Tsingtao is awful! Yanjing is much better, will try the Tiger next!

Re: How come Tiger beer costs more than other local beer?

Yanjing dark is ok.

3.20 for a can, 4.3 percent.

Tsingtao is my favorite Chinese beer, but locality and freshness have a lot to do with it.

Tsingtao drunk in Qingdao itself tastes pretty damn good. Yanjing tastes better when you're in Beijing because it's made here.
(I think...)

I mean, I even thought Budweiser tasted decent when I tried it directly at their brewery.

Sometimes I feel it is maybe unbearable always be traditional Chinese girl.

Re: How come Tiger beer costs more than other local beer?

the only beer which doesn't taste like piss is Guinness....Full of iron, good for women~~~~

Re: How come Tiger beer costs more than other local beer?

Guinness is not a beer it is a stout, which means it has less gas and more alcohol...! so of course it's better.

Re: How come Tiger beer costs more than other local beer?

Lotus just had Tiger beer on special for 2.80 a can, thats cheap, almost half price, almost as cheap as Chinese beer, I stocked up on a few cans.

I am also looking for Tiger in the big bottles. I found some at Jenny Lous, only 6 something a bottle while here around my home the small bottles go for over 7 a piece!

People in America loved the Budweiser “Bohemian-style” pale lager in 1876 as it was launched by Busch. According to a 2008 report the St. Louis Business Journal, beers through the Busch family corporation Anheuser-Busch held a 50.9 percent market share for all beers sold within the United States. Belgian-Brazilian beer magnate InBev bought off most of the Anheuser-Busch stock later that year. "King of Beers" became "de Koning van Bieren" in The United States losing sales. Anheuser-Busch InBev is going to be handing out free beer on Sept 29, reports St. Louis Today. This is in celebration of National Happy Hour.
