there isn't much choice in terms of 3G for smartphones in China!

China mobile is pushing their homegrown variety which is incompatible with international 3G.
China Unicom is selling 3G of the international standard variety.

The plans are fairly comparable cost wise and it just depends on your needs.

I'm currently on the 99RMB for 300MB data with China Unicom and so far, it's been good enough for me. That said, my usage is twitter, facebook, email and the occasional blog post/photo upload. I have not gone past the 300MB mark yet.

Cool thing with China Unicom is i get a weekly sms about my data usage and how much is left in my plan.
