What are the chances that my friend will be caught in China using a fake degree to teach? I heard that many people do this?
I will be visiting China with my friend Chris in the near future. He mentioned to me that he made a fake degree and he even showed it to me. It looks just like a real degree. I'm wondering how common is this? Do many foreign people do this and get away with this? Have there been cases where someone has been caught and jailed or deported? What happens to these people? Any horror stories online? I just don't want my friend to wind up in major trouble. If his degree looks real, will he most likely be alright?

robertm,
If your friend is not caught in China, then everything will be OK.
But once your friend has been caught in China, then anything can happen.

I knew quite a few teachers who had fake degrees, even Masters degrees and yeah, seems they are not checked unless you need a "Z" visa then that may be too risky.

The most important thing in this thread, is to not let us know your friend is "Chris", even if it's a fake pseudonym.
