Should I just get a student visa?
My situation:
My job fell through, but I'm going to take a tutoring job to pay the bills. I'm on an L visa, and they told me I needed to arrange either a F or X visa (that's the student one, right?). After calling some agents, it looks like I'll be paying close to 6000 RMB for a F visa. That's expensive.
So I'm thinking, why not just enroll in a Chinese course? Does anyone have any experience doing this? I'm not talking about a fake school for the visa, but a not so full time school for the paper.
I would like to start learning Chinese again, but money is my main concern right now. Which route would be cheaper? I'm guessing a student visa takes a little time as well, and I have just over 2 weeks before my L visa is worthless.
I have plenty of agents' numbers from the board, no need to waste time advertising to me.

What's an frd? Was the 9700 your tuition, or did it include your visa? And why would a visa agent need a student visa?

Re: Should I just get a student visa?
you have several choices
1.extend your L visa for three months
2.convert L to F for six months(not very expensive here)
because X visa is not easy for you to get it.
good luck
if you have any visa problem, just contact me ,i will try my best to help you

Re: Should I just get a student visa?
Talking about X visa, you should enroll in a qualified school or trainning certer, otherwise you can not get X(student visa).Apart from that, there are three options:
1. Extend L visa for three months,at least you can stay here for 3 months and leave enough room for you to find a proper way to do visa.
2. Convert L to F without leaving. It seems that the price for L-F conversion is expensive than L extension, but when you get F visa, you can stay here for 6 months and extend it for another 6 months when it is about to expire, cost for extension is much more cheaper,
3. Apply Bussiness Invitation letter. This option requires you to go out of China to get a new visa with letter. and when you come back with one month F, can extend it for 6 months,
Each options has its advantage, which one is suitable for you depends on your situation.
Hope my suggestions are helpful

Re: Should I just get a student visa?
Hi,Tai-Pan
One of the necessary conditions of student visa application:
You must have enrolling school's letter such as "Admission Confirmation Letter" .
"Admission Confirmation Letter" by the enrolling school for foreign citizens who have entered China on an L or F visa .
As Chinese laws , if you hold X visa , you must studying in China.
You can try to contact Chinese Training Schools.Good luck~~

Re: Should I just get a student visa?
So which option did you go for? How much exactly does L-F visa conversion cost, and can anyone who currently holds a L visa apply for it?
