While I applaud the citizens for standing up for their rights against injustice. I do take umbrage at

THIS STUPID CHINESE INSISTENCE ON CALLING A CHICKEN SANDWICH A BURGER.

Okay I saw it with my proxy. That is a Chicken sandwich. It doesn't matter what the bread is, if it has Chicken or any meat besides BEEF in it then it is just a sandwich.

What's with KFC and colossal promotion f***-ups? Didn't they have a big mess in the U.S. a year or two ago over some Oprah promotion?

I have to back up Zhenlai. In the U.S. a "burger" = beef on hamburger bun bread. Even the U.S. KFC website uses the word "sandwiches".

Hell, if they cooked up Oprah and made semmitches, I'd clamor for one, too. Anything to get her off TV and out of the media once and for all.

I am quite amused by this story.

I always find it interesting when my Chinese friends want to go to KFC. I would estimate KFC is more popular in China than the U.S.

It also shows that the Chinese really like to collect coupons for a discount. Finding a "price discount" or "bargain" is very attractive to Chinese shoppers.

I've been trying to figure out effective Chinese marketing since the day I arrived.

Coupons definitely seem to be popular. But you don't see them used by companies trying to attract customers all that frequently yet. KFC and McDonalds are exceptions, of course. You'd think more companies would take notice.

From my own experience, I think "buy one, get one free" is even more appealing than coupons for the average Chinese consumer.

They won't give me my 4 yuan discount for fried chicken? YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!

that's why you specify....

"I'd like the spicy chicken sandwich" is probably a burger.
"One chicken BLT on rye" is probably a sandwich.
