I haven't heard one who speaks Mandarin well enough. Pathetic.
Have departed from this forum for good bcus the moderator blocks every one of my post. They continue to bash China unfairly but cannot accept the facts about Britent etc. They are obviously very insecure to resort to silencing me. ZHONG GUO WAN SUI!

We don't speak Mandarin simply because we don't use it in our jobs,and just don't NEED it,it's tiresome,boisterous and cantankerous,and plain loud!moreover,it's the language of the brainwashed masses.

Why do you over and over say such unsupported stupid things? There are many foreigners here who speak very good Chinese, I have personaly heard it and have been told it by other Chinese. Mine is not that great but I did not start learning it until I was 30 and it is a very hard language to learn and I do very well here communicating with people and 99% of the Chinese people here are very friendly and appreciate my effort to learn their language and commnuicate with them in a language that is not English. Thank god you are a stupid minority here.
Oh, and Da Shan can speak better Mandarin than you could ever dream of speaking.

but i give da shan credit for his mandarin. unless you listen very closely, you will not be able to hear any foreign accent in his mandarin.
his english accent is very slight, only in some parts (very very few) of his speech can you hear hints of it.

by the way, chinese is the language with the most number of native speakers in the world. num 2 is spanish. num 3 is english or french. cant recall.

Well, that is a recurring theme really.
First, most of foreigners do not speak Chinese because most of the Chinese people simply want to speak English no matter where the foreigner their are facing is from. That is because the legend as its say that every foreigner speaks English which partly true.
Then, when we start talking in Chinese, most of us experience the same thing from the Chinese person we are facing: disbelief! So, the Chinese person we face will carry on speaking in English or try to speak English not matter what.
From my part, I cut short to all this none sense a long time ago. As English is NOT my first language and therefore my accent and way of speaking might no sound like anything Chinese people hear at school or in movies, I simply adopted Chinese as my first foreign language when it comes to interact with Chinese people. But that is only me.
One more time Longshao, you are right (as in one of your previous post about "people who do not like China should leave" or something like that). People do not make enough efforts but in the same time, they do not receive enough encouragements or kicks in the butt to force them using Mandarin. In this case, there is a 成语 which I think is adapted to the situation: 入乡随俗 (www.nciku.com will give you a good translation of it ：）
