What's the best way to get tutoring jobs while avoiding agents?

It has gotten to the point where I simply do not trust anyone posting job openings for English teaching on this or any other website. The amount of Johnson Zhangs and Richmothers out there seems to be overwhelming. I have been out of the teaching loop for almost two years now, but need to pick up some tutoring or English corner gigs. Any suggestions on where to post or where to go?

Every time you speak to someone Chinese and their English is substandard, ask if they need a teacher. Or apply to licensed schools and Universities direct.
Don't let crooked go-betweeners take advantage of your hard work.

I will tell you where to go! Go to the corner of Dodge and then follow the street Get The Hell Out and you should be on your way finding what you have been looking for out here. J/K!
But seriously I can tell you are a frustrated little man that just wants to bounce around town trying to find gigs like the musicians on the streets or alleys or bars at night searching and searching and playing their tune. I will tell you stop playing the tune and looking for gigs. Its not a rehearsal and its' not a performance. It is real serious business to the chinese people here. There are a number of sights where the chinese looking for a teacher will pick three of the best of their liking and if you qualify
You got yourself that gig you have been dreaming about for so long.
