Do I need a visa to work?

I want to teach English in Beijing.

Schools don't seem to care that much if you have a z-visa or not.

Do I really need a z-visa visa?

Seriously??

I really want to ban irresponsible 'agents' such as you, for posting messages like this. At Wits End

Of course it matters. If he works and gets paid, while on an F visa, HE WILL BE BREAKING THE LAW.

You people should stay the hell off our boards of you can't explain simple things like that.

Re: Do I need a visa to work?

had better apply a working visa please.
Actually, u should apply a foreign expert certificate and a one year residence permit(euqal to working visa).
I dont think it doesn't matter if you are to be a teacher without working visa unless you are working for a small school and not be a full-time teacher.

Re: Do I need a visa to work?

The only legal visa for working in China is working visa/residence permit.
However, for some freelancers, ppl work part-time, they might have hard time on getting Z as they dont have employer to spnsor them, so they can get F visa which is for ppl who come to China for business, reseach etc. which is better than L tourist visa if ur not just travel here in China.

Why do I need to keep repeating myself?? Confused

Re: Do I need a visa to work?

Relax, she's not irresponsible. She's just Chinese, and that is Chinese logic. And she probably barely understands what she's writing anyway.

And you will have to repeat yourself endlessly - you think you'd be able to get through that outpost in her head?

Visa agents are not the most reputable people in the world, you know.

Re: Do I need a visa to work?

Hanchu, aren't you being a little picky about following the rules all the time considering what your in?

Damn it! Was supposed to say "considering what country you're in."

Re: Do I need a visa to work?

LOL, ok, good to know mate.

I was worried I was 'in' something sensitive then. Wink

Re: Do I need a visa to work?

I know where Joe's coming from, though.

Huanchu's 100% right, technically, but in a country where bending or ignoring the rules on a daily basis is not only common but a necessity for survival, I don't find the agents' comments all that out of line.

Happy New Year 2Bi! I hereby grant you early release for a month of good behavior.
Don't violate your parole though, naughty naughty!

Re: Do I need a visa to work?

Although I am slightly confused, I guess I should try to get a z-visa.

Does anyone know if its impossible to get a z-visa without 2 years work experience?
Even if I can get someone to sponsor me?

Re: Do I need a visa to work?

Re: Do I need a visa to work?

In China you only need what you need to get by, get it? In the U.S. you need to be an American citizen to work, or have a green card or work permit, so, how many are working without one?? yeah, many! Get what ever visa is easiest for you, if your school will go get you a Z visa then go for it, expect to have a full physical here, blood test, the works. I would guess some of the English teachers here have F visas, is that about right?

of course for those watching this site I am working with a legit Z visa of course. I also only cross the street when the light is green and make sure to spit at least every 10 steps, hey, laws are laws, we just try to fit in here.

Re: Do I need a visa to work?
