The eruopean countries and American countries still can extend your F to 3/6/12 months with 1/2/M entries.
But there is no 3 months L visa extension in the next several days or weeks.
Another information is that, the African countries visa cases would be issued diffcully maybe because something happened in Shanghai Expo.
L/F to Z conversion still can be handled no matter you have sponsorship or not.

Yeah, It is easy to extend F visa for Developed Countries, Middle East, Southeast Asian Countries and CIS.
Furthermore, L-F is available.
The documents for F extension and L-F are as follows:

One two-inch photo
The Registration Form(Foreigners who live in beijing are required to provide this)

L-F and F-F 12 months will go into a hard period to be handled next week. So the price will go up.
