Nacho's are good and have not found any in Beijing yet but when at home sipping a beer and watching movie I like to snack on David Sunflower seeds, any flavor, for the sunflower seeds in China suck!! no salt, horrible flavors and who knows how clean they are!

Jenny Lou's used to have some nacho/corn chips, but I haven't been there in a while. Also there was a little store near the Wudaoko subway that sold 'em and some good salsa too.

make your own salsa, i did last night and it was yummo and all the ingredients available in any market. if you want to upgrade get the actual red tomatoes and a lime from jenny's or sanyuanli. total cost under RMB10.
3 medium tomatoes, squeeze the seeds out
quarter of a red onion
2 sping onion stalks
2-5 fresh red or green chillis
1 big bunch of coriander
half a lime or quarter of a lemon worth of juice
salt and pepper
guacamole though, not that i'm a cheap-ass but.... RMB15 per avo

You'll have to forgive my relative ignorance in the ways flour/corn snacks.
I'm not 100% on the difference between tortillas and nachos?
If you go to The Brick in Shuangjing they serve these lightly fried corn nachos than have bubbled slightly and become a little soggy......man, fanf-ingtastic.
I might go back there later just for these things.

Check out those nachos at the brick.
They also do these mini-pizza things for 15 kuai.
Not really pizzas, more like super-loaded soft nacho's.
15 kuai though, great value.
Try the chilli-cheese ones.

A tortilla being a corn-based flour (at least the kind used to make chips), nacho chips are in fact tortilla chips.
A proper plate of nachos should have a healthy mix of crispy and soggy chips, but even more importantly just requires an abundance of the proper ingredients (notably, cheese). Sounds like the Brick could be a contender.... have never tried them, though.

I know about the version where you just have a load of them on the plate and pour a mountain of meaty-cheesey goo on them, don't know if they have that at the brick.
I've only had nacho's as a side or with salsa there so far.
Will check into it.

I think you're referring to "movie nachos," or really any nachos made with processed velveeta "cheese."
Quite tasty in their own way, but ultimately a very different and generally inferior experience.

hmm, no I think they are real nachos just like everywhere else I've tried but they have been lightly fried right before serving.
It's quite possible you are right though, I'm no nacho expert.
Guess you'll have to check them out yourself.

Kimchi pancakes are awesome. Discovered them one day by accident ordering from a Korean restaurant with pictures on the menu. Damn good.
I'm on my 4th beer, munchies later.
Can't predict what the munchies will be yet.

PS I like the kimchi pancake in theory but they are always so damn greasy. where do you get them so they're not so oily?

When the wife gets home from work I'll let you know, admin.
The one I had was more in texture like an omlette. Not greasy, not too mushy but you can still pick it apart with chopsticks.
It's near Women's Street/Solana area, can't remember the name. Great place.

i would sooo go for some homemade cataplana (see picture) right now!
drown it in lemon juice and down about 4-5 verde's (similar to a white wine spritzer)...
@hero, strongly recommend cold white wine in the summer, buddy.
makes everything much better.
beer in the hot weather messes with the head.
late night beer is fine but on this sun...i just cant handle it...
white wine on the other hand...2 glasses, working on some documents at home and
i swear ive been looking at my fingers and wondering how come they dont fing?
