going to HK. welcome advice.
I am changing visa from a student to a working(z)
The company I will work for has begun the application and told me they will send me an invitation letter.
I will then have to take this letter to HK and there it should take around 2 days.
They have just assured me that the PSB have approved my application and that they will send me the relevant documents.
I,m not confused or nervous in any way I just need to see a logical approach or step by step guide by anybody who may have had this experience and carried it through without hinderance.
Thanks.

Re: going to HK. welcome advice.
Yes,I can show you the steps of applying work visa.
Step-1) Apply for "working license
Step-2) Apply for Z visa, 2 options:
Option-A. Get a work invitation letter (¥600), and go abroad, such as HK or your homeland, to apply for an "one month" Z-visa , then come back to china again.
Option-B. If you don't want to leave the Mainland, then we could convert L/F visa to Z visa in the Mainland:
Step-3)“work permit
Step-4)“Residence Permit
Hope this can hlep you clear the process of applying work visa.
Any problems,contact with me.

Re: going to HK. welcome advice.
thanks, but surely if my company have applied for the visa already (3 weeks ago began application) then when I go to HK i will recieve a 1 year residents permit right ?
I am not planning on getting a 1 month visa, why would I want to do that ?
when they give me the residents permit/confirmation letter (for chengdu) I must then go to HK to transfer it into my passport.
I am just looking for a concise , clear explanation of this situation if anybody has happened to have been in this situation could you please advise me .
Frank, what kind of money are we talking and how long does option b take ?( If I have the relevant documents of course).

Re: going to HK. welcome advice.
Hi,there
There are two ways to get Z visa, one is to convert your X to Z, another is to get Z in HK, yours belongs to the latter.
Now your company is prepare all the documents for you, they will get Employment License(a paper) and invitation letter for you ,then just like you have mentioned before, you need to take this two ducuments go to HK to get Z visa, EXit & Entry Bureau will add new visa page to your passport,it is Z visa which valids for 30 days. When you get back, your company will responsible for applying work permit for you. You can have your visa extended for one year only on the condition that you get work permit.
For getting residence permit, it is not that simple compared to L/F visa extension. You can not get one year residence permit directly in HK.
Hope I have clarified my points.

Re: going to HK. welcome advice.
Hi there,
Plz go through Frank's explanation on 1yr Residence Permit procedure carefully, there are four steps.
So what your company done for you is just step 1 and 2, ul hold them to HK to apply for a Z visa which is temporary one, only 30days, so when ur back, ul need to go on Step 3 and 4, finally get 1yr Residence Permit visa.
But if you are in Bj, we could help you do any way for Step 2, which you dont need to go to HK but change ur current visa to a 2months Z visa n u can go on Step 3 and 4.
Hope its clear, more question, feel free to let me know.

Re: going to HK. welcome advice.
thanks for your advice, I will be in touch.
2 more questions....
My visa will expire on 10th july.
By which time I should have recieved my documents from chengdu.
Do I then have enough time to process the visa whilst staying in Beijing ?
How much would that cost ?
please post reply here, I want other people to see the price you will quote so they can advise me on this.

Re: going to HK. welcome advice.
You mentioned in the previous post that your future company is responsible for visa application, they will provide sponsorship for you. Generally speaking, before going to HK,you should have two documents: Employment License and invitation letter, each step will take 5 working days, and if you meet all the requirements for Z visa application, it only costs hundreds yuan.
You can go to HK before expiration date(July 10th).then you have to pay for the plane ticket and accommodation, spend 3-4days in HK waiting for your visa.
Since your company has already began the visa processing, you can wait and keep track with the procedure.
I guess your company has already get Employment License, if all things go smoothly, the company can get letter in the Bureau of Commerce in the next 5 working days.
It would be better if you can get the needed documents 2-3days ahead of visa's expiration date.

Re: going to HK. welcome advice.
As long as you leave mainld b4 expire date with employment licence and Z invitation letter to aply for Z, that will be okay.
And in HK, for working visa application, you will pay about 400rmb, there are Express service (HK$150 /person): 3 working days including submission day and rush service(HK$250 /person): 2 working days including submission day.

Re: going to HK. welcome advice.
thanks phyllis, that is very welcomed information.
Do any of you visa agencies have a price for getting it done in Beijing without having to go to HK ?

Re: going to HK. welcome advice.
Wrong.
They'll issue a 30-day one-entry "Z" visa in HK.
With this visa you travel to Chengdu and there it will be changed into a one year residence permit. They will not issue the residence permit directly. Never have and never will.
Advice: Be careful with all the agents here. You found a company which is providing you with a legal way to work and stay in China. You should follow this company's plan.
My 2 cents

Thankyou Beijing123, that is what I wanted to hear
If I decide to use an agency I'm sure i will use one that has been certified by somebody I know that has used them in the past.

Re: going to HK. welcome advice.
Last time I had to go to HK to do my Z-visa. Having been on the mainland for over 2 years without any break, I needed that little trip. HK no longer does the same-day visa delivery visa, the fastest being next day collection for a slightly higher price (normal processing takes about 3days). When you get the Z-visa your company will complete the procedures to get the residence permit.
When I went to HK, I had the application letter, my health test results, employment licence and a couple of passport sized pictures with me.
Don't forget to re-register yourself with the Paichusuo when you get back on the mainland.
