Work Visa (Z-visa) advice
Hi all,
I need some advice about obtaining a Chinese Work Z-Visa in the UK and in Beijing. I'm hoping to land a 6 month contract working in Beijing. I would like to return to the UK for a few weeks then return to Beijing for work. I am currently in Beijing on a Business F Visa, which expires on 14th August 2010. My UK passport also expires October 2011.
About me - British (UK) Passport, Degree and masters educated. I have over 1 years experience since graduation working in the UK. I have had other part time jobs before university too.
Reading the information on the Chinese Embassy website in the UK here, I have some questions:
1) I see no mention about doing a health check or providing 2 years work experience to obtain a Work Visa on the UK China Embassy website. Do I need to do this to obtain a work Z Visa?
2) If I need to do a health check, can I do this in the UK?
3) If I need to provide 2 years work experience, is this only counted after graduation?
4) I plan to stay in China for another year but my passport expires in Oct 2011. Should I renew first?
5) Should I get the work visa in Beijing or back home in the UK?
6) Any other advice?
Cheers!

Re: Work Visa (Z-visa) advice
Hello my friend.
I'm professional visa consultant.
I need know more information,
1.Do you have a company to sponsor you?
2.Your age should between 24~60 year old.
Let me answer your questions:
1.The beijing labor bureau need the health check,and two years working exprience proof,not China Embassy.
2.you need do the health check in Beijing or in your home country,that's ok
3.you should provide the original two years working experience proof,if you don't have we can help.Yes,this only counted after gradution.
4.If you want to stay in China for another one year,you should renew your passport.
5.You can get your work visa in Beijing,hold this Z visa travel,this is multiple entries visa.
6.In fact there are four steps to apply work visa:
Step-1) Apply for "working license ---it will take 11 working days ,¥400(Service fee)
Step-2) Apply for Z visa,2 options:
Option-A. Get a work invitation letter (¥600), and go abroad, such as HK or your homeland, to apply for an "one month" Z-visa , then come back to china again
Option-B. If you don't want to leave the Mainland, then we could convert L/F visa to Z visa in the Mainland
(Service fee for "Conversion in the Mailand": 2300 RMB, and 400 for Government fee)
Step-3)“Apply for work permit; ¥400(Service fee)
---it will take 5 working days, means 1 week;
Step-4)Get “Residence Permit:¥400(Service fee)+400 (Government fee)---It means extend your Work Visa or Residence Permit which is been done in Step 2 to a "12-month valid Residence Permit";
---it will take 5 working days;
So,if you go to your home country,we can send you Z invitation letter,that will be much cheaper.
Hope can hear you soon.

Re: Work Visa (Z-visa) advice
Hi there,
Here is answers to your question, hope that will help:
Firstly, a brief introduction about one yr residece permit application:
step 1: apply for a employment licence; 11 working days;
step 2: change L to Z 2month residence certificate; or apply for working invitation letter and go to HK or foreign
countries to apply for a one-month Z visa; 5 working days;
step 3:apply for employment certificate; 5 working day;
step 4: extend 2 month residence certificate to 1yr; 5 working days;
Now, I will explain your questions:
1. a health check is required on step 1 (copy)\; step 3 and Step 4, both need original one; also overseas two-yr working experience cert. is required on Step 1;
2. well, if you do it in UK, u can provide copy of it for Step 1, but ul need to get it approved in designated hospital in BJ when ur back bj with Z go on Step 3 and Step 4;
3. you need to, n Labour's Bureau requires working experience after you got your degree;
4. depends when u issue your Residence Permit, if its b4 Oct.2010, then its okay, you still can get one yr visa till passport expire date;
5. as I said about Step 2, you can do both;
6. if you are already in Bj, and wanna get everything done here without going out of China, you can do Step 2, chang F to Z without leaving China, hassele free and less time&mooney-consuming.
More questions, feel free to let me know.

Re: Work Visa (Z-visa) advice
Hi ,there
Welcome to China.
1>Yes , you need to do health check and 2 working exerience or the copy of residence permit for 2 year.. Your age should be 24-60 .
2>You can do a health check . But you need do Attestation of Physical Examination in Beijing .
3>Yes, you need to provide 2 years work experience after graduation.
4>It is up to you . You just need renew your passport 3 months before your passport expiry date .
5>you have two solutions :
solution 1:to switch from L/F to Z visa directly without leaving China. (This solution can save the travel fee ,but the price is a bit expensive)
solution 2: to fly to the nearest place you can go is Hong Kong with the employment license and letter and use them to apply for a temporary Z visa in HK or other country.(This solution is cheaper , but it will take a more time.)

Re: Work Visa (Z-visa) advice
Hi all,
Thanks for all the advice. Ideally I would like all this done without leaving china so can people pm me total prices.
If I was to land a job, I'm sure the company would provide all the relevant documents to assist me with the visa. I'm 25 but I only have 14 months experience after graduation.

Re: Work Visa (Z-visa) advice
Hello there ,
1 About your two years working exprience i think i can solve your problems .
2 You can do the medical check in UK,but when you come back to beijing ,you should go to the medical center and change the medical check,as when you apply for the work permit and residence permit ,need your medical check of beijing .
The steps of applying for the medical check :
1employment certificate (10 working days )
2invitation letter (5 working days )
3go to HK or your own country to apply for the z visa (for 1 month z visa )
4work permit (5 working days)
5residence permit (5 working days)
You can also do you visa in beijing ,without leaving china.
