Is is possible to apply for a tourist visa in China (mainland)?
I currently have an X-type Student visa that expires soon, but I want to stay in China a few weeks longer, so want a Tourist visa without having to leave the Mainland.
To repeat, I do not have a tourist visa to extend. I want to turn my Study visa into a Tourist visa, is this possible?

of course it is possible to convert X to L for 1 month,but after 1 month you can not extend it any more.

I am in the same situation. I want to convert an X visa to an L visa and then back to an X visa in the fall, since my program has just ended but I am starting another one in September. Is this possible?

Now my company can change student visa to one month L visa,you need to provide graduation paper,bank book(save 21.000rmb in the bank account).

My company can change X to L visa without leaving China, you need to prepare passport, one-two inch photo. Graduation paper and Temporary residence permit.
