I found Grizzly Man entertaining. It was produced and directed by the talented Werner Herzog. It's about a dude who thought he could live with bears peacefully and ended up being eaten by one...along with his girlfriend. The Grizzly Man was nuts, to be blunt, but Herzog seems to take a sympathetic bias towards him. A good documentary with some bizarre and humorous moments.
If you can manage to get the full DVD there's an interesting "Making Of" segment which shows how the soundtrack, which is great, was produced as well.
oh forgot this one too, long way round, it's more of a travel show, but it didn't get much notice and it was great. ewan mcgregor and his best friend travel the circumference of the world on motorbikes. great segment in mongolia where they eat testicle soup.. ewan mcgregor seems like such a guy you'd want to have a beer with. http://www.soku.com/search_video/q_long%20way%20round

Sweet-I've been looking for that-couldn't find it on Youku.
The new series on National Geographic with all the recently colourized footage from WWII was excellent.
Not sure if you can find online yet.
I just watched 8 solid hours of WW2 combat footage and didn't see a single frame of anyone but Americans firing weapons nor other allied country's aircraft or vehicles.
just re-watched this.
my grandma, (devout christian) was so mad with me when i saw it the first time, long time ago...
awesome documentary.
pretty old (1985) and if you ever got into any of those guys,
you might already have read or heard them say most of what they say here,
but it is still a classic and well worth a watch.
oh yeah? well, let me ask you this: shut up!
contemporary china = crouching tension, hidden anger.
It's full of annoying, preachy commentary from Glenn Close about how we are ruining the earth yadayadayada but it has some of the most spectacular visuals I've ever seen.
If you have a HDTV and the ability to play blurays you need to check this out.
Or I'm sure you can probably find a 1080p torrent.
Another thing worth mentioning is the hypocrisy of the theme.
Whole thing is sponsored by a large number of huge corporations such as PUMA and Gucci (and they made damn sure you notice that within the first min or so.) which are surely large contributors to the pollution they are bitching about.
Wow, It is very very beautiful. I watched it for half a hour just now. I am downloading it now. It is worth watching again and again. Really thank you, Aier2.

Just watched the cove. Not excellent as a film but very compelling story ... And somehow I avoided finding out that the guy behind the whole "free the dolphins" thing is the same dude that first trained "Flipper".
Don't see this if you ever want to have the capability of enjoying a dolphin show again.

Man on a Wire - good stuff. The climax, when the guy finally walks the wire, is awesome (right around 75 mins into it).

Recently watched the Long Way Down, they drive from
Scottland to CapeTown.
Not quite as interesting but still worth a watch.
Since then Charlie Boorman apparently has done a few more ones with just him.....I'll pass.

Best.
Visuals.
Ever.
The commentary is just as condescending and up it's own ass as I remember.
Put it on mute and play some tunes while you watch it.
Would make great background visuals if you're having people over.

Re: What documentary do you like?
No, sorry man.
I'll have a look later, though you will be missing out half the point of watching this if you just stream some low res online version.
Half of the beauty is the scenery, the other half is the high resolution at which it's presented.
