Landlord vs. PSB
We're having a friend visit and stay in our apartment for about a week.
I inquired with the PSB a while ago about registering and they said I must bring the contract. Problem is, our contract says specifically that we can't have anyone stay overnight. I told my landlord that we might have visitors over and he said that's fine, but they shouldn't stay for too long. He also said that we don't need to register.
What should we do? Not register and hope no one notices a tall European in a very Chinese neighborhood? Go the PSB without the contract?
I appreciate your help!

Re: Landlord vs. PSB
Take the contract when you take the visitors to the police station. If the police mention the point about no visitors, say you cleared it with the landlord, and ask them to call her if any issues.
Should be no problem.
Alternatively, don't go, but risk the small chance of getting you, your visitor and your landlord in trouble. Personally, I'd say it's not worth the risk, but you should decide for yourself.

Thanks for the advice, I also think the best thing to do is to go to the PSB. The problem is, the landlord indicated he does not want us to register someone, so I'm not sure everything would go so smoothly if the PSB calls him.
Why would it matter for him whether I register at the PSB or not?

Well, if your friend is just visit for few days, you dont have to register for him/her, unless you wanna extend his visa in PSB.
Oh, btw, the place for registration is police station.

Are you registered?
Maybe the landlord just doesn't want the hassle of having to go to the police station, or maybe she is thinking about the 'rentee tax' that she may have not paid yet.

Are you Chinese? Seems nobody would care if someone visits you for a week, do you have routine police checks at your door? If it is just a week I would not worry about it, especially if it is not wanted by your landlord, give him problems now may end up giving yourself problems later.
