L visa extension for baby? bank statement?

I'm on an F visa til October. My seven month old baby is on an L visa that expires in a few days.
Do I seriously need to get a bank account with 3000 usd/20000 rmb for a 7 month old to extend his visa for 30 days?
Is there any waiving of this for an infant?
(a planned quick bounce HK trip out of country to give him additional 60 days fell thru)

Is this L visa or family L visa?
If family L visa,don't need the bank reference.

actually, we got his L visa in the US on a visit home.
He was born here in January. I'm on an F so no family L available.
We got his exit visa in April (no entry, 10 days), then went to visit grandparents and got him a 60 day stay/ 1 yr multi entry while we were there.
Came home to BJ on that.(mom-me- still on my F, can come n go as much as I want)
Went back to US in June to visit the other grandparents and came back to BJ on June 19.
His 60 day stay is up tomorrow.
I need to get him an extension.
He has no bank account since he is only 7 months old.
(Knew I shoulda put him to work months ago! He's just a lazy bum who only wants to sleep, eat, poop and play!)

I think you should go the PSB to extend your baby L visa.Becasue you don't have much time.
I think you don't need the bank reference since your baby is 7 months.
This is the number of the PSB:010-84020101.You can call them to ask some information.
