GMT and UTC

Just now I checked Baidu encyclopedia about GMT, it says earth's rotation is irregular and it is slowing down, so GMT is not the standard time anymore, the current standard time is provided by atomic clock(UTC), since 5th, Febuary 1924, Greenwich sends a justified standard time to the world every one hour regularly.

Re: GMT and UTC

I never really got that whole greenwhich thing.... what's supposed to be the deal with it being the "standard"?

Sometimes I feel it is maybe unbearable always be traditional Chinese girl.

Re: GMT and UTC

The Victorians standardised a lot of things that we used today.

Why do you think we call it Great Britain?

Put it this way: time as we know it was invented by the British.

Re: GMT and UTC

The news only makes me think: Age represents nothing because every year, the time length is not the same.

True though, the reason your chopsticks are the same length when you buy a bag is because of measurement standardisation and the industrial revolution.

The sunrises in the east but shines on the west (joking)
