yes, yes, yes. i always wish i could buy stuff from taobao in english on my own, but i am never quite sure what i am doing and need to rely on chinese friends.

so i guess what i actually want is for all of taobao to be translated in to english, i don't think that's quite what you mean. maybe in your english taobao store you could give detailed instructions on how to buy stuff from taobao in english with screen shots etc.

Trust me, it's so danger.

DON'T tell them? they have already knew it.
I am asked to buy goods from taobao by my foreign colleague every week.
they live in beijing, so they are also beijinger too.

the real problem with opening an english store on taobao is that all of taobao's support information -- things like the payment system, the FAQ, etc, are not in english so it is overwhelming to most non-chinese reading users

English or not at the end of the chain there is a Chinese person to deal with.

They are not easy people to deal with when you have more than one question about what they are selling.

Ask one question.........get a reply with a stupid cartoon face.

Ask question two.......wait 30 minutes for a reply.

I usually check for 'payment on delivery' as I have no idea how to set up an online payment account (alipay, paypal or whatever it's supposed to be)

My view on that is that you should not open a English store to sell the same things than taobao. Taobao has already got a good selecction of products (some of them are not available in Carrefour or Ikea) and you have pictures with it. An English section just needs to be added for the ones not speaking Chinese when it comes to payment modalities or even sometimes a description of the products. Good point you had

There is already a guide in english on how to use Taobao somewhere here. Dont exactly remmeber where.

Taobao might be easy to use but paying for it isn't. I think a guide is a great idea, especially if you can explain how to pay by internet, which is too complex.. it takes an "internet" bank account, passport, bank USB drive, and three passwords to set everything up!

Actually buy from taobao is not so hard as you think.But if you wanna open an online shop on Taobao, just forget it. Because too many competitors do their business on Taobao, most of them sell women clothing and snacks. I don't think it is a good idea to buy from taobao. It does matter that more and more foreigners buy from taobao and they usually buy from taobao agent, instead of English taobao. There is a simple example from smalltao.com. A new site that sell taobao products, you can find what people usually buy from their promotion products http://www.smalltao.com/promotion.

Sorry brother, its not a good idia, because I already open the english 2 year before,but been bean by taobao. I dont know way, but its should not allow to open the whole english shop on taobao, but you can try again ,just good luck.
