Validity of Chinese Visa in Hong Kong

Hi!

I have a 3 month single entry business visa for China and will fly to Beijing soon to work there. During my stay I'd like to visit some friends in Hong Kong.

I heard some conflicting statements regarding the validity of the Chinese visa in Hong Kong.

Is it possible to visit Hong Kong and then simply go back to China with the same visa or do I use up my single entry leaving the Mainland so that I have to get a new visa?

Thank you very much for your help!

Re: Validity of Chinese Visa in Hong Kong

If you've only got one entry then when you fly to Beijing you'll be using that one entry up.

Hong Kong is considered a Special Administrative Region and going there involves a border crossing complete with immigration and customs. You receive an entry stamp (and automatic 90 day visa for most countries) upon arrival and an exit stamp when you leave.

Short answer: If you go to Hong Kong, and you've only got a single entry visa, then you'll need another visa to re-enter China.

Re: Validity of Chinese Visa in Hong Kong

Two options
1.You can apply a new visa in HK to enter, then apply work visa as you work in Beijing.
2.You can extend your business visa with one entry, then you can go to HK then come back with the same visa.

Re: Validity of Chinese Visa in Hong Kong

I think if you work in beijing ,you'd better apply for a work visa ,and before you go to HK,you can apply for the employment certificate and invitation letter, and then you can take these two documents to go to HK to get a temperary Zvisa .

if you don't want to do like this ,you have to extend your F visa with multi-entry .

good luck

Re: Validity of Chinese Visa in Hong Kong

when you came to China, the single entry time will be used. and if you want to back from HK, you need one more entry time. but there will no time for you.

so there are two options for you:
1, apply for a new visa in HK when you come back to mainland, maybe L visa is ok, then convert your L to working visa when you back.
2, extend your F visa with one entry time before you go to HK,then you can come back to mainland with the same visa

good luck!

Re: Validity of Chinese Visa in Hong Kong

Thanks for the information!

As I will not enter HK before getting to Beijing, what's the procedure for extending my existing work visa in Beijing?

Re: Validity of Chinese Visa in Hong Kong

Hi
To extend the working visa you need a company in Beijing ,because they need the information from your company you also need to prepare:
1.passport homepage photocopy
2.two inches of photographs of blue or white five CARDS
3.Beijing original registration form of temporary accommodation
4.Bachelor's degree certificate original
5.After graduation from the original two years working experience
6.Two copies of the original examination
Good luck to you

Re: Validity of Chinese Visa in Hong Kong

You need to get straight what you're legally allowed to do on a Business visa, which is not the same as a Work visa. You say you are coming on a business visa but to work in Beijing. If your work is something like an internship, or relatively short-term consulting or something that will take three months and then end, you should be OK on the Biz visa you have.

If you are going to be really setting up home in Beijing and working indefinitely, upon arrival, your employer should be willing to give you the paperwork you need to get down to HK, get a Z (work) visa, then have you return to China and expedite the process to help you get your Residence permit. Some employers are able to get this accomplished without you leaving Beijing, but if you wanted to schedule a visit to HK to see friends anyway...a trip can do double-duty.

If your employer wants you to work indefinitely and continuously in Beijing on a Biz visa, that would be a red flag.
