Seriously, does anyone over the age of 25 care about Valentine's Day?

You know it's a ruse, don't you? Made to force you to buy way over-priced flowers, chocolates, wine and dinners.

(That steak and chips at Nola is looking really yummy though!)

For the record, there was no "St. Valentine"... "he" was based on a bunch of Christian martyrs. The one in the legend had his head cut off, now that's romantic!

Anyway, Valentine's Day in Japan is much better. Women give men gifts only, woo hoo! Party

(I'll probably still go out for dinner though Whew! )

its not the way of thinking,its my situation for now,i dont have a person next to me to give a gifts,and not only for holidays,beside of my friends:)))

Valentine's Day has that air of obligation that sort of sucks the romance out of any gesture. Toss in the opportunistic extortion that restaurants/florists/ jewelers etc. get going and I really give this holiday a miss.

I loved it when I was little and we made valentine mail boxes out of shoe boxes and everyone in the class brought in thirty little cards. The class mom brought in cupcakes with those little conversation hearts stuck in the icing.

Because I am cheesy, I did buy my kids shirts with hearts all over them and will get them some little treat. My dad always gave us little heart shaped boxes of chocolate after handing my mom her gigantic one. It was nice.

V-Day is just one of those hoops you have to jump through to keep your girl happy. Usually the effort results in a more pleasant life.

It's kind of like wearing socks and not puking up vodka with chunks of raw hotdog in it when you meet her parents.

I would surely get gifts on that day, because v-day is also my birthday. expensive flowers, wine, dinner...NO, never expected such things. Honestly, I don't care about such things, but I do care about that day and I still will when I'm older than 25.
OK Here's my plan:
for my b-day: drink beer with friends...
v-day: close my room door, drink this till I fall alseep.

There are techniques and condiments needed to make it palatable, my Chinese friend loves the stuff, but not before this involved ritual to make it worthy.

actually, i never tried that. 56% alc, my throat will catch fire. I prefer red wine(inexpensive ones) if I can have dinner with my bf...still, I'd like to try the "gasoline"

Every Year since I became a single mom, I would just take my son and a couple of my also single friends out to eat. Even the years when I had a man in my life, I still preferred this non-valentine tradition.
For some reason being nontraditional on this nauseating, commercial day is more fun.

If you're going to be two-faced, at least make one of them good looking.

i hope,u will care about ur love not only in ST.Valentine day,other 364 days also...and bring ur attention not only by gifts,by ur heart,which is more important...
