Work permit question
Hi. I have a question about obtaining a work permit.
I have been in Beijing for 6 months working for an IT company. I recently quit so I returned and canceled my working permit.
Now I am talking with a small company that “is thinking of” hiring a foreigner for the first time. They claimed they are interested on me, but the company dealing with their payroll and legalities told them they are too small to apply for a foreign expert and subsequently help me getting a work permit.
I am not sure if they change their mind or this is true, since on the same time we keep communicating.
My question is:
Can a Chinese company of 8-10 employs with small revenue hire a foreigner?
Is there a way for me to get a work permit (or other document) independently from them, that will allow me to work legally?
If it helps I have a valid Z-visa and I recently got married here. My wife is Chinese.
BTW : Nice website looks very lively.

Re: Work permit question
What is a "work permit" ? I have heard of resident permit (registration) and a Z visa is for working, so it sounds like you are in the clear. Of course they can hire you if they want to spend the time and money to register you, your Z visa needs to be from that company I am sure, so that needs to be changed, but it sounds like you are as legal as can be for the moment, why don't they hire you?
Sounds like they want to sneak you in the back door and get you on the cheap!

Re: Work permit question
work permit is a paper got from the Beijing Labor and Social Security Bureau, this is the first and the most important document for work visa.Only after get this permit can the following steps go ahead.
You have been in Beijing for 6 months working for an IT company, it means that you have already had a Z visa (it is also called residence permit), if you still have this type of visa, then you can transfer sponsorship of this residence permit to your new employer, it is much more easier.
The amount of the registered capital of the company is important for hiring foreign employee.

Re: Work permit question
It seems that your current visa should be residence permit (while maybe you'd like to call it "Z-visa").
If I am right, any lecal company located in Beijing can help you get work permit and residence permit no matter it is a Chinese company or foreign company.
