I know this posting was a while ago, but have you found some interesting places to check out?
What did you think of Art Beijing Art Fair?
Have you been out to Caochangdi? Three Shadows Photography Art Centre is an obvious stop you may already know about, but Galeries Urs Meile, Chambers Fine Art and Pekin Fine Arts all have interesting exhibits up right now. Alexander Ochs Gallery and White Space share a building and also often have solid exhibits.
There's also the Pingod development near Shuangjing, south of Guomao. It's still developing, but the Today Art Museum is an impressive structure. Their exhibits are short-lived though, so be sure to check out their website to make sure there's something to see.
Red Gate Gallery is an impressive space and is Beijing's oldest private contemporary art gallery. It's near enough Pingod that you could hit up both areas at once.
There's also of course the Songzhuang art district. Songzhuang Art Museum just put up a big new media video arts installation, and G-Dot Art Space has a fun, funky huge scale exhibition going on.
Hope this is helpful! Course, I never know how much people may already know about this. Feel free to message me if you have more questions. Also, we're planning to do a guide of sorts for Beijing's art venues soon, so be on the lookout for our August issue!
so you are an art person, i've been working in the art business for 5 years, start with a friend build up an new media art gallery in 798, then helping foreign artists set up art exhibition in beijing/shanghai. what kind of art u are looking for? there are a few photo gallery in beijing/shanghai, and some fine art galleries in 22 int'l art street (my previous boss have a successful business there) now i'm on my own selling patgs being a middle man, dealer. ; )
