Can I apply for an F Visa in Beijing? If not, what to do...?

Hi,
I am currently on a student x-visa here in Beijing, but that expires on 31st July. I would like to do a language course over the summer (July and August) and then leave September. The university I am applying to do sends out a JW202 form to apply for the visa, but am I able to do this at the Beijing Public Security Bureau, or do I have to go to HK?

I don't think you can do this in Beijing.
Only the university can do X visa.

Reply:If you hold X-visa , you can not apply for F visa in China .
Solution : You can go to HK to apply for 30 days L visa when your visa expiry .It is easy to get it . then come back , you can extended of visa for twice , each time for 1 month . So you can stay in China until Oct.

X visa can not be changed to F visa in Beijing, I suggest you go to HK to get F and then come back to Beijing, you can find a visa company to help you with visa extension. Right now. F can be extended for 3 or 6 months. and if you do not want to leave China when F is about to expire, you just need to keep extending it.
