Is it possible to covert a Z visa to a long-term L or F visa?

I am currently legally working as a full time teacher and I have a proper working visa, but I thought about switching from full time to part time just because I feel that I am working too hard(40hours). The catch is that once I switch to part time, my company will take away my Z visa and I will have to figure out the best alternative. Is it possible to get a year or 6 month F or L visa? A friend of mine mentioned that it is possible to get a multiple entry, 90 day L visa? What are the most recent visa laws?

Hi There
If you swith to part time, your company can not take away your Z visa, but will surely cancel Foreign Expert Permit.Further more, work visa can not be changed to L/F, you have to exit China, either go to Hk or go back to your country to get a new visa. On the current situation, F can be extended for 3/6 months, for 6 months F, you can choose entry time(1/2/M).But for L visa, it can be only extended for 2 times, each time is for one months.

The satisfaction we get from a lifetime depend on how high we choose our difficulties.

So if I decide to change to part time and I went to Hong Kong to get a new F visa or L visa, I remember them telling me that when you apply for new visas in Hong Kong, they can only offer you a 30 day F or L visa, which would be too much of a hassle, but I heard that it is possible to get this extended in mainland China? I have this fear that once I give up my working visa, I might be shooting myself in the foot when I realize that my alternative is a 30 day F or L visa. Does anyone know if I can get a 90 day or 6 month extension here in mainland China or in HK?

Hi,

If you apply for F visa in HK , you can extend it for 6 months in China , it is possible .But it depends on your nationality .

If you apply for L visa in HK , you can extend for one month each time in China , total you can extend for twice .
