Battlefield 3
Battlefield 3 will be epic, no question. I believe that it'll wipe the floor with MW3 even if it sells fewer copies.
That said.. whats the situation in China? Can servers outside be accessed? People here have mentioned VPNs and so forth, but the speed can't be that great am I right?
Anyways-- moving to BJ and will need to figure out a good setup re: internet and access. So add your thoughts here about the game and how might be interested in playing/servers in China/BJ.

Re: Battlefield 3
I don´t think you will have much chance of playing the game. When it comes to FPS gaming China is pretty far behind and new western releases are rarely played. You might find servers within China (assuming it gets released here, I don´t know about it but releasing games here is usually very difficult), but not many. For e.g. I tried playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2 here, but there are no more than 3 servers that are populated. Sometimes you can play on russian, japanese or korean servers but most of the time the connection is pretty bad (meaning your ping is basically too high to play in any serious way). Forget about joining us or euro-servers, it is simply unplayable.
I basically gave up on western fps, rts are playable though. Or you stick to the local stuff.

Re: Battlefield 3
WEll as long as the servers in Korea and Japan are reachable then it can't be that bad.
Agreed you need a good ping-- but it won't be unplayable am I right? Im in HK now and the servers from Japan are pretty good.

Re: Battlefield 3
october 25th is the release date in usa..
somehow i doubt it will be released in china
one can only hope
I for one will be getting it shipped to me in the mail, hope that works out, one can always play the single player at least..

Re: Battlefield 3
The ping should be okay/playable, but I don´t think it is gonna be that popular. I don´t know why, but BC2/BF2 weren´t really popular too, only a bunch of servers..

Re: Battlefield 3
I still play Battlefield: BC2 on pc a good bit.
There are some Chinese servers but it's hack central, ping seems to weirdly not be so great also.
Ping to Taiwanese servers is the best, but the Taiwanese servers auto-ban anyone from the mainland (highly irritating, at least put a warning up like some servers do)
After that, ping to some Aus servers is actually pretty good, often better than the China or HK servers, you just need to find the right ones.
As for the B3 setup...I don't know but I'm definitely buying it.
It's pretty much the only game I'm really looking forward to for the rest of this year

Re: Battlefield 3
Oh yeah, Korean and JP servers were all unplayable for me.

Re: Battlefield 3
Well, I hope this auto-ban from the mainland thing isn't as widespread as you say..
I guess the ping will be decent from BJ to Japan and Korea because those are the servers I play on most from HK and I get below or around 100 ping most of the time.
I already bought the game via the EA online store Origin. If this sh*t is blocked in China.. or on game release or who knows what.. I'll be very upset. Yes, this is pretty much the only game I've been waiting for all year.
Dusted off the copy of Bad Company 2 and have put in some time to get a feel for the rush/conquest modes again

Re: Battlefield 3
Generally Aus servers are better than JP or Korea from here.
Doesn't make sense, just the way it is.

Re: Battlefield 3
You could always get a VPN, for example one with an exit node in TW. Pings should be good if the VPN provider is legit.

Re: Battlefield 3
I've been playing the Battlefield 3 Closed Beta.
I know this is a long shot but... anyone else?
Thoughts?

Re: Battlefield 3
I am using Super VPN Services to play this awesome game and everything works perfect. They have servers in Korea, Indonesia, Japan and many other countries.
Their SSL Plan has great encryption 2048 bits and use UDP ports so it looks like any connection with https.

Re: Battlefield 3
Needless, but I'll say it anyways: SuperVPN is a scam.

I hope superVPN-guy dies in a fire in front of his family.
If anyone in Beijing is interested in forming a Battlefield 3 Squad or Platoon let me know
(PC only atm).
Playing the game every day at the moment, bit of a mess but when it works it's a beauty.

Re: Battlefield 3
Wish I could, seems like a better version of BC2. But sadly it doesn't run on my computer & connection..how is the server situation? Is it getting popular in China? (doesn't seem like there is one game aside from WC3 that is popular in China)

Re: Battlefield 3
To be honest the entire launch has been a massive disappointment for me.
They gave us an unfinished product.
I strongly suspect it was released when it was simply to get it out before MW3.
If planning to get it for PC I'd suggest waiting a few months while they patch up all the many problems.
When it works it's great though, best shooter around at the moment.... will probably stay that way for a couple of years.
As for the servers.....there are some Chinese servers but it's hard to gauge the situation when everyone all over the world is getting the same lag and disconnect issues I'm getting.
We'll see as the weeks go by I guess.

Re: Battlefield 3
Guess I still have time to save up for that sweet alienware.
Still, seems to me the folks back home are having a blast. I personally loved BC2 and watching the gameplay videos of BF3..

Re: Battlefield 3
I still have BC2 installed on my PC and would be up for playing it. Just fyi.

Re: Battlefield 3
Are there servers though? Last time I checked there weren't any with a decent ping..?
Will be a bitch to reinstall (have it on steam) but I could run steam a couple of nights to get it again..connection is too bad for playing & skype at the same time though. Otherwise I'd love to shoot some russians (or Charly as I have VC but I think there will be even less servers).
/e man I miss online gaming. Will have a blast over Christmas back home..

Re: Battlefield 3
I do ok on aussie/nz servers.
Not ideal but sometimes not bad.
Let me know if you reinstall.
Benzi
Re: Battlefield 3
What is not bad for you? Afterall they are more than 5000 km away. I just pinged some servers in Australia/NZ and even with just 32 bytes had around 300-400 ms minimum.
Best I could do was Russian servers (32 bytes / 88ms) which should be doable. I'll download and then try..
In the meantime we should play some Starcraft 2 with that other dude..

Re: Battlefield 3
So I've been away for a bit and now that I'm back to playing on Chinese servers the amount of cheating over here is really striking.
Not hacking, though I'm sure there is plenty.
Admins will literally reset the whole match if they're getting their ass kicked.
I'm just back and I've already seen it like a dozen times
Pitiful, selfish crybabies, is there really no end to this attitude?
