I AM VERY ANGRY ABOUT CHINESE YOGHURT!

Disgusting!

It used to be OK before. Now it makes me sick!

In 5000 years of Chinese history, this is the worst thing to happen. Worse than Qin Shi Huang burying intellectuals. Worse than Mao Ze Dong telling farmers to make steel so there wasn't enough food.

This is a black day fo China!

For shame! For shame!

Re: I AM VERY ANGRY ABOUT CHINESE YOGHURT!

Yeah! THIS is the kind of post that keeps brining me back here.
Aside from being a great T-shirt slogan, I think that there is such a mind-boggling array of yoghurts available in China that the OP needs to direct his anger in a more specific direction.

Personally, I am not a big fan, but my kids like it. We try to stick to sugar free, or at least the plain type.

Some of those corn/wheat/synthetic fruit blends are revolting.

Re: I AM VERY ANGRY ABOUT CHINESE YOGHURT!

Where do you get unsweetened yoghurt?

Re: I AM VERY ANGRY ABOUT CHINESE YOGHURT!

For the real thing, my sister-in-law and I practically have a standing order at the Xinjiang Provincial Office in Sanlihe.

In the grocery stores all the major brands have sugar free, but sweetened with xylitol.

I know there is some way to keep it going and make fresh yoghurt from a culture, but I am not that ambitious.

Re: I AM VERY ANGRY ABOUT CHINESE YOGHURT!

Nice! I'm going to have to get some from the Xinjiang Provincial Office ! I can't deal with sweet yoghurt.

Re: I AM VERY ANGRY ABOUT CHINESE YOGHURT!

I like Chinese yoghurt. The melamine adds to the flavour.

Remmy be pimpin' in BJ, yo!

Re: I AM VERY ANGRY ABOUT CHINESE YOGHURT!

why do you drink it? poor guy~ lol.
it seems that you would choose to be buried XD

I'm back!~~

The only place I've seen it is JL's, a big tub for 7.9 quai. It's a small local outfit makes it, I think. They make sour cream too, although that's more like 24 quai for the same size container.

We go through a lot of that yogurt, it's great with muesli and for smoothies.

Nice yea I miss having it with some muesli. On a related note anyone know where to get Kefir?

We make our own, just put some (good) milk and a bit of culture in a little machine and the next day voila!

Great stuff.

Re: I AM VERY ANGRY ABOUT CHINESE YOGHURT!

If it really is that easy, I guess I am ambitious enough to make it at home.

I must have it confused with sourdough bread or home-cheese making.

Will check GuoMei for a yogurt maker tonight.
Thanks, Aier.

Sourdough bread is the easiest thing in the world. Flour and warm water mixed and left in a warm place will attract sufficient spores to serve as the sourdough "starter." It only takes thirty hours or so.

Java Joe is intermittently an unendurable ball of rock-ape turd, sun-baked but malodorous withal.

So will damp, dirty underwear

Don't ask me how I know

Then it grows black spots which cannot be washed out. How do I know? (Texas in summer+indolent bacherhood)x distance to laundromat= disgusting fruit of the looms. Do not try to repeat this experiment at home.

Re: I AM VERY ANGRY ABOUT CHINESE YOGHURT!

and I'm off sourdough bread for the discernable future...
You guys must be working for Atkins or something!

Re: I AM VERY ANGRY ABOUT CHINESE YOGHURT!

I work for Atkins as part of my dastardly duties within The Matrix

Re: I AM VERY ANGRY ABOUT CHINESE YOGHURT!

omggg me too.... unsweetened yogurt is my favorite thing on earth, and now i just bought something that said, no sugar on it... i even asked a chinese person if that's the right one, and she said yes, it says no sugar...
and when i came home and tasted it (i couldn't wait until the morning), i was so angry, it was still sweet! what happened to making nice, normal yogurt? urrgggghhh
moreover, i spent a lot of money because the shop is a bit far away from my home and i wanted to buy a supply haha....
awesome -.-

Love the life you live. Live the life you love!
