Does the Hong Kong jump still work?
So, I've been out of China for years, but when I was in Beijing and visa times got hard, I would just hop on the train to Shenzhen, skeedaddle over the bay, and go by a little company called Forever Bright Trading Co. They'd set me up with what I needed and I'd be on my way to slacking around Beijing the next day.
Anybody know if this still works? Can I get a visa by just flying into Hong Kong and applying from there? How much does it cost? If Forever Bright is out of business is there someone who still does this?
Thanks.
There is a bluebird in my heart, but I'm too tough for him.

Yes- we did this in December 2010. But you can only get a 30 day L visa there if you don't have an invitation letter for an F.
You can renew the 30 day in Beijing when its up- twice.
So the answer- still possible, but much more limited than it used to be.

If you are planning to stay in China more than 3months, you'd better get a F invitation letter before ou fly to HK, as Ailuri said, you will only be able to get L tourist visa fr 30days, n only can extend it for 2months in total in China;
F visa can be extended in China for 1yr till your last entry. so this is more convinent for you, and you can change it to working visa once you need or want to.
If you have more questions, feel free to let me know.
