Free Infectious Disease Testing for Dogs and Cats at ICVS!
FREE INFECTIOUS DISEASE TESTING FOR DOGS & CATS BY THE CHAOYANG DISTRICT EPIDEMIC DISEASE CONTROL CENTER
Dear Pet Owners and Friends,
The International Center for Veterinary Services (ICVS) has received an official announcement from the Chaoyang District Epidemic Disease Control Center that in order to prevent zoonotic diseases (e.g., diseases transmissible from animals to humans) and to ensure the health and safety of pets and their owners, they will be offering FREE testing for Dogs and Cats for:
1. Toxoplasmosis - a parasitic disease caused by the protozoan Toxoplasma gondii. T. gondii is present throughout the world and can affect most mammals including cats and humans. Households with women that are pregnant or planning to have children are recommended to have pets tested.
2. Bartonellosis - an infectious disease produced by bacteria of the genus Bartonella. Bartonella are bacteria that live inside cells; they can infect humans, mammals, and a wide range of wild animals. Bartonella bacteria are known to be carried by fleas, body lice and ticks.
3. Brucellosis – an infectious disease caused by contact with animals carrying bacteria called Brucella. May infect livestock, dogs and humans.
4. Leptospirosis - a bacterial infection resulting from exposure to the Leptospira interrogans bacterium. Though recognized among the world's most common diseases transmitted to people from animals, leptospirosis is nonetheless a relatively rare bacterial infection in humans. The infection is commonly transmitted to humans by allowing water that has been contaminated by animal urine to come in contact with unhealed breaks in the skin, the eyes, or with the mucous membranes.
These diseases, while not highly prevalent in China, may be transmitted to humans from animals, causing adverse health effects.
Free testing is offered to pet owners in coordination with the International Center for Veterinary Services (ICVS) that will collect blood samples from pets. ICVS encourages pet owners to take advantage of this free testing as it offers exceptional value (blood tests valued at over RMB 1,000.00) and peace of mind to pet owners and their families.
Please contact the International Center for Veterinary Services to sign up for this free testing and to schedule an appointment and blood draw for your pets. The Chaoyang District Epidemic Disease Control Center will perform the testing. Kindly provide your full contact information so that you may be notified of the test results when available.
This FREE testing for dogs and cats is offered until September 13, 2011 (last date for blood draw).
Please contact the International Center for Veterinary Services for more information and to schedule appointments! We look forward to seeing you and your pets!
