I did notice however that they are cutting down all the trees everywhere.
Good! Damn trees!
Making oxygen and beautifying the city--- cut 'em all down before they- god forbid!- drop leaves everywhere! We wouldn't want leaves cluttering the pristine clean streets!

Yeah, today was pretty crappy, we were spoilied after a week or more of nice blue sky.
As for the trees I am sure it is only temporary, happened here near my home as well, I was furious, ruined the whole area, then a few days later truck loads of trees came in and everything was replanted. Beijing is actually one of the best cities I have ever seen as far as trees and plants, they do plant a lot, poor trees, it is no where near enough as far as pollution goes but they do try in that one area at least.
