The hair is getting a bit long for me in the back, and I'm looking for a place price-friendly, competent and speak English. I'm near the Landgent Center. Thanks!

Oh, me hair is getting a little long in the back, what shall I do? How does one get his or her hair cut in China?
You got to be kidding me! Is your head that far up your ass you don't know where or how to get your hair cut here? You can't walk in this city without tripping and falling face first into some hair cutting place.
Oh, I should have known by your other post, "Hello, I live in Antarctica, looking for a good place to get ice at a decent price"
Go stick your head in a blender, that is the newest fashion. post pics!
A 'good haircut'. [technically cut accurately, overall balanced, symmetrical(if necc), sits well, accurately matches the description of the owner, pleasing to the owner]
Sorry Chaofan, there are no hairdressers in Beijing. Nobody in this city is capable of cutting hair with any degree of technique, flair or artistry whatsoever.
Your best bet Btrpt is to go to Korea or Japan to get your hair cut, it works out cheaper overall if you factor in the cost of searching extensively for someone to repair the damage after the bj hair mafia have completely dessiccated your most prized posession.

Completely true. My hair's simple: short back and sides (but not too short!) and bit longer on top. Impossible to screw that up, right?
No.
Chinese hairdressers constantly screw that up!
I've been to at least five different salons locally, and they all did a piss-poor job. One side longer than the other, made a big hole in the back(twice!!), used a razor to shave my fringe so I either have to keep shaving it or let in grow back all prickly and weird-looking (I chose to let it grow back).
I've even been taking a photo of the hairstyle I like to show them and they always said: "Oh, easy!" ...then screwed it up. Seriously, the end result and the photo were really different! Did they not see that???
Anyway, the other day- thank the almightly!- I finally found a place that does a great job.
The hairdresser? Japanese.
Yep.
A new salon opened near my home with Japanese hairdressers newly-arrived from Tokyo. A bit expensive (140rmb) but worth it for the lack of stress and aggravation!
Oh, and they play quiet, relaxing music. i.e., they don't blast mind-crushing Chinese pop at full volume.
140 for a good haircut!!
Jesus Christ.. look I know you don't want the whole of BJ going there, but is there any chance you could share the hair details?

Well, the branch I go to is in the south of Beijing, but apparently there's a branch in the CBD, near Guo Mao I think.
It's called Queen's Berry.
The owner is Japanese, they have great Japanese stylists. 140 is the opening special I believe, but will go up to 190 later. Still, once a month for a cut that doesn't look like I did it myself with a lawnmower is worth it.
I'll try to track down the phone number later...
EDIT: after countless terrible haircuts I splurged and went to Toni & Guy one time. Paid more than 260rmb and got the same haircut I'd get from a 30rmb salon. Terrible.
380?
Is that the first time you go?
The second time, he's been mysteriously promoted to upper senior styling specialist and is now 460, but today you can have 10% off.
Thanks for the info Deeh, I appreciate your interest. 380's not that expensive. I guess I think 300 is an ok price for a good haircut. But you've got to trust someone, not sure I can do that anymore. If the haircut goes wrong you aren't allowed to do anything about it. Hairdressers have got you by the short and curlies. What did you have done, a cut? I mean did he cut in a confident manner, or was his hands shaking? You can tell within the first few seconds if it is going to be a good haircut by the way they hold the scissors and your hair. I think so anyway.
also. it is said the manager's skill is not bad. from Hongkong. but never tried b4.480 or 580 something. cannot remember

Thanks for the info. The HK guy looks like he could do a good haircut, I would trust him. Have to wait for about a month though so the Tony & Guy effect wears off

Oh try Peter nxt time plz. i wanna know if i can trust him as well ;P
Alex at La Belleza cut my hair.
Hmmmm...if I was to give him a mark it would be 6/10.
When he started to cut, I politely asked him to stop using the texturing scissors, and use ordinary ones to first cut my hair in the correct shape. His cutting skill was better than T&G, but still I was not happy with his blending skill. Joining areas of long hair with areas of short hair should be blended with a smooth taper. He seemed incapable of doing that. It was almost like he really didn't expect me to ask him to do the things I asked. Maybe he expected me to shut up and just accept whatever he was going to do. But that's not me, I insist on a great haircut. I'm sorry, but Alex didn't do a great haircut. Not even a good one.
Previously I went to Kilala, a Japanese hairdressers. 260 for a rubbish haircut. He thought he was good, but sadly his scissors skill was abysmal.
It seems I'm never going to have any luck with hairdressers in BJ.
I had my haircut at La Belleza today. Alex cut it. This time he completely f***ed it up big time. He is a total prick, he made me so f-ing angry. I mean..if people are that bad at cutting hair, surely they shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a pair of scissors. No?
So it really is true, there isn't a single good hairdresser in the whole of Beiing that isn't going to f*** your hair up.
I give up. I despair. What does a person have to do to get their f-ing hair cut properly?
Hve been reading thru the posts and i would like to know if Queen's Berry is still in biz? If yes, may i have the address & contact no?
Are they good with all types of hair? what about color?
I need to get my long tresses done + touch up color ... but if the hair cutting skills are really bad in BJ, then i will only settle for color and let my hair grow long like Rapunzel

nope he is still 380. 460 is for men??not sure..
just went there last week.
the place is nice and quiet. went there since last year. not 1st time.
i just have a cut and feel quite satisfied. ofc not shaking hands. and once he is the TOP 10 in China although no idea who made the list..
another good point is they never do the promotion during the whole service, which is nice.
here is the link. have a look
