about Occupy WallStreet

Hi

Is there any U.S. people that can tell me what's going on?

It seems that something similar to what happened in May in Spain is happening now in New York and other cities.

Does anybody knows someone involved and could share his/her impressions about how is it going?

What is expected for 15th?

Atxabaltar bat.

Re: about Occupy WallStreet

Wrong city, wrong street.. that's what's going on.

The fed is a single identifiable unit, whereas Wall Street comprises of many thousands so the protesters don't even know which door to knock on or where the lowest level office of their complaints lies. Those in mid level are going to get toasted and the higher ups can't wait to cash in.

Re: about Occupy WallStreet

A group of people are demanding Wall Street be properly regulated by the government. Sounds good to me.

I demand good spices.

Pampered college students are having a "protest experience" just like mom and dad back in the 60's. Do they have a clue what they're protesting...? Nope. Everything from "evil bankers" to "pay my tuition" to "global warming".

The protest is just an excuse to "protest" and smoke some weed. The reports are always "protesters in the hundreds", no matter what city they are in. So the protests are minor in size. When winter hits, they'll be gone. None of these folks believe enough to protest in the snow.

Re: about Occupy WallStreet

..... the protesters have been in the thousands since the beginning of the month.

As well, even the next head of the world bank has said he considers the protests to be constructive. And they are, unless you want another economic collapse due to shady practices.....

I demand good spices.

Re: about Occupy WallStreet

its all about old power structures crumbling, and things changing towards a more equal and sane world. its a slow process which is gaining momentum.

Re: about Occupy WallStreet

Let me see. Occupy Wall Streets dubbed "good" by the world bank and media but Tea Party dubbed "bad" for seeking a change and wanting a smaller gov't. Hmm?

You understand that this is socialism, right?

Bench 400 or die trying.

Re: about Occupy WallStreet

So when can we start hearing about Occupy Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen?

It's good socialism. Sweden, Finland, Canada and a few others have a decent mixture of socialism and capitalism. Nothing wrong with that.

Look forward to working with you.

Some could argue smaller government is a bad thing because it leaves even more room for unfettered capitalism to f*** up the country. Here's how I see things...

Education should be subsidized, not completely free, but not totally a cost to be taken on by the student.

Things you NEED to survive, or to have a comfortable living in a developed country should be government owned. So utilities, main highways, police and such....

To pay for it the government should tax corporations at least close to what people are taxed. On top of that, allow the government to own a couple businesses to bring in revenue. For instance, British Columbia used to own its own railway in the province.

Healthcare to be provided by the government. But, I'm for user fees for certain things, so that people don't start going to the hospital cause they have a cold.

That's a light overview. I'm sure it's easy to find holes in it, but no one said it's easy to run an economy and country.

Look forward to working with you.

Re: about Occupy WallStreet

But then you have a gov't that uses the EPA and National Health Insurance to control everything little thing in a persons in life. That's a gov't that is too big.

Re: about Occupy WallStreet

Plenty of countries have such set-ups without government trying to control everything. I don't know where such fears come from. I think things like the EPA are good when handled properly. You can't allow overzealous environmentalists to run it, but it's better than industry regulating itself.

For me when government gets too big is when it starts forcing people to get boating licenses to paddle a canoe or other overbearing garbage.

Look forward to working with you.

Other countries is not every country. I find the US moving to be a type of cradle to grave nanny state, which I am not fond of.

I've cursed you and reviled you, but on occasion you talk damn good sense.

Re: about Occupy WallStreet

How is the coverage of this, if any, by the Chinese media? I can just imagine the slanted coverage on CCTV about it. The American media is already having a field day with the rioting that happened in Rome and other coverage even from "liberal" media networks is misinformed and lacking.

For those interested there is a live video stream of many of the occupy wall street protests from actual protesters in various cities on livestream.com.

No common goal, Commies running the show, wrong target, waste of time.

Re: about Occupy WallStreet

This card from 1912 was produced one year before the federal reserve was established, they are protesting in the wrong place....by design.

Re: about Occupy WallStreet

People are protesting all of the above. Many protesters are chanting "end the fed" though it doesn't necessarily include everyone. It's not solely aimed towards the banks and corporations it's aimed towards the influence that they have on our corrupt politicians and how our government functions, the Federal Reserve is included in that.

Re: about Occupy WallStreet

The government is controlled by the FED, it lends them money with huge interest, its not an official organisation, its a private international fraud operation that throws huge figures around without anything to back it up. If you want to kill an octopus, you aim for the head.... not slapping away at 8 different tentacles while wearing a stupid V for Vendetta mask.

The banks don't influence the government, they beg money via Obama from the.... guess where?

More and more 'security' camera's in public. I hate that false image of safety and a total lack of privacy. Maybe that is not a 'regulation' but it is a type of mental control.
