The Thailand Help

I would like to travel to Thailand during Spring festival. My sister is coming from Canada to join me and I'd like to take her somewhere nice. I don't know anything about Thailand so I need some help. Plus I've never really traveled before either.
We would like to go to a beach.

So which area is the best and not too expensive?
Is it fairly easy to find a bus or train from Bangkok to the location? Would I need to book this ahead or can I just do it when I get there.
Can you recommend any travel agents that speak English? Otherwise I'll probably book through elong.

That's all I can think of now.

Thanks

Re: The Thailand Help

my only advice to you is check the weather. half of thailand is in the middle of rainy season at that time, so make sure you do your research otherwise you will be stuck in a room with your sister drinking sangsom and eventually killing each other out of boredom.

Trust me, it's so danger.

Re: The Thailand Help

Hi,

Phuket will be the best option and you can get there direct with air Asia for a very good rate. Excursions are cheap and hotels with good rates are easy to book and select over Agodea at for example thaiorientaltours.com where more info and photos are provided.

Phuket is awesome!

have fun

Re: The Thailand Help

Why don't you book flights and hotel on the internet by yourself? It will just take some time to do the search, like airline and hotels , but it is convenient. You can get whatever you want. We went to Thailand last Jan and my husband booked everything on internet, didn't use any agents. We went to puket and phiphi island, it was wonderful, especially the phiphi island.

Re: The Thailand Help

I think u are just being too worried about the travel and I recommend it's better not to join a travel agency.
There are many islands in Thailand u have to choose which one to go to. Puket and phiphi are famous ones but may be too crowded in this season.
If u go to Bangkok and want to enjoy the beach but don't want to leave Bangkok too far Ko Samet is a good choice.

Re: The Thailand Help

Major flooding has occurred in Thailand during the 2011 monsoon season, most severely in the Chao Phraya but also in the Mekong River basin.Bangkok, residents escaped the worst with only minor damage following a massive rise in water levels on the Chao Phraya River, though many homes on the riverside were flooded.
