Do Some British singers still have a pure British accent when they sing?

A few days ago, when I listened to Price Tag, I found Jessie J pronounced the word "dance" as /dæs/ instead of /da:s/. Then I searched a few songs by Adele, McFly and Cold Play. The vowel in many words like dance, can't, fast are pronounced as /æ/.

Now I feel a little confused. I'm just an English learner. I wonder why those singers sing with a little American accent.

Many brits in the North of the country pronounce the "a" in "dance" a bit like Americans. eg listen to some Oasis from manchester and Beatles from liverpool. And the scottish accent is even stronger.

There's no such thing as a "pure" british accent.

Its called mid-Atlantic and is common in modern music.

David Niven..... um, perhaps the clearest example of a perceived english accent would be the theme from the original Casino Royale 007 movie he was in. Its not him singing but sounds pretty snooty.

It's good that you have such curiosity, when it comes to learn a foreign language.
But just don't get mad at trying to imitate anywhere's accent, as yours is the most real, authentic and perfect you can speak out Smile

This world is beautiful just because is wide and different.
