The best place in my opinion to get used books in Beijing are the 'Roundabout' book fairs. I think the next one is in the Rega school in Shunyi on January the 14th. Not very accessible but worth making the extra effort to get there.

Alternatively, the bookworm in Sanlitun is great and has used books, which they loan (nearest subway= tuanjiehu). They don't have used sections but the Xinhua book stores are usually a good place if you want to buy cheap classics. Think there's one by Xidan, wangfujing and in The Place (near yonganli).
