US citizen, work to business visa conversion
Hi,
I am a US citizen now working at a university with a work visa (Z). I have a Master's degree and have taught in China for 8 years. My contract and visa will expire in about 6 weeks. For personal reasons I don't want to work for a few months but want to stay in China. It looks like a business visa for 6 months would fit. Here is my understanding:
1) get a sponsorhip letter through a visa agent
2) go to HK and get a 1 month business visa
3) come back to China and extend it for 6 months.
Is the above correct? Also, how much would I have to pay for this?

I am pretty sure you won't be able to extend a one month visa for 6 months.
