14 satisfied years at the Den

The Den started operations I believe in October 1997. I have been a regular customer since January 1998. At the time it was one of the few places for decent western food. Over the years they have maintained good quality at reasonable prices. They had a really happening DISCO on the second floor where it was easy to make a lot of acquaintances. Now on the second floor it is a good place for simi-private parties. I have many happy memories over the years and am grateful for the kind and warm friends I have made both with other patrons and staff. I am their English teacher and customer service trainer but I don’t get money from them just great food and hospitality. I am I biased? You bet I love that place. They are always willing to listen to special requests such as food preparation and special events. It Saddens me when people critize the staff that I know are really good people, dedicated to helping every customer have a good time. There can be misunderstandings but I have never seen any staff member try and cause conflict with customers. It's just not good for business.

Re: 14 satisfied years at the Den

Yea i've been there in April 2010 and i got to meet my local chinese friends there. In general i think they are doing a good job but what irritated me was the cover charge, i dont know if they still do that and i really hope they dont. Also, there are some ladies who are obviously not normal patron sitting at the bar when late, i guess we know what they are trying to do, it just makes the place not so quite decent. If u know what i mean. But of course, i will still go there again this coming April and see if the Guinness they serve is still as good Smile hope to see you in the Den then, Cheers.

This bar always peaked my curiosity, but I never had the chance to actually drop by in the few times I've visited Beijing. Next time I think I will go there though, sounds like a very chill place.

Has it gone now?... i dj'ed there on quite a few Fri and Sat nights, it was a laugh. Used to keep the neighbours up very late! Steve was the first head bar man, he went to London eventually... super guy.
