DJ Jobs

I will be in Beijing following an MBA program at Tshingua University starting this January. I am probably going to live somewhere around Sanlitun.

Back home in Amsterdam I have many gigs and residencies as a DJ at some high end clubs. I would love to have a cool residency at a club in Beijing and play some music while I am there. Not really looking for a paid job but more for the love of playing.

Can anybody help me with this / have some good contacts?

Your help is highly appreciated!

Seb

Perhaps the same way you contacted all those places/residencies in Amsterdam... post some mixes online, slip some discs to club owners and spend some time hanging out at the places you are interested in, BUT and its a big BUTT, get paid properly for what you do... playing for free isn't good form because you'll mess up other DJ's that work at the club.

Re: DJ Jobs

This is a fantastic site and very engaging too. Excellent work! That’s not really much coming from an amateur publisher like me, but it’s all I could think after enjoying your posts. Not like other site. You really know what you’re talking about too. So much that you made me want to explore more. Your blog has become a stepping stone for me, my friend. Thanks for the detailed journey. I really enjoyed the posts that I have read.................

Re: DJ Jobs

hei all im a dj/producer from UK.
iv been in beijing for a year and im working with some other international dj's and producers here. i play mostly trance and progressive house, sometimes techno but its crap. but if anyone would like to start and set up a show or something il be interested in doing some work together.

Re: DJ Jobs

Techno IS crap though... its the most boring and easiest thing out there to mix and always amusing to watch DJ's messing around with mixer settings (aka faking it) right through a track that's been mixed on two perfectly functioning studio monitors accompanied by the stale superstar pose of a finger pointed skywards to denote the next stale 128 bar section of "music" that someone else made from the "Ja Techno ist geil vol 852" loop compilation torrent.

sorry, do i come across as bitter? only because i know techno is evil and people that like it are into eating small animals, just like your pets!!!!!!!
