Hi everyone, I am a newbey on the Beijinger. Myself and my business partaner Sam have just start a new business – selling second hand English book in Beijing. If anyone is interested in reading English books but finds it difficult to get one in Beijing please let us know.

We will have a large amount of books for sale in with a wide selection. Yep, thats right, at the moment all the books are on their way to Beijing. All of the books are imported from US and UK. We will have them ready for you after the Chinese new year.

More English book sources are always welcome; I'll probably place an order with you once you've got some stock.

About your website, I hope you'll have an English-language version too or you're going to lose a good 50% or more of the foreign market. You'd probably be able to find free translation help in exchange for website credit. I'd probably agree to that deal myself.

You maybe don't need an English version of your entire website, but at the very least the book descriptions should include title, author, and year of printing or edition number, in English.

ALso, they're used books, right? There's nothing wrong with that, but I'd suggest you use condition classes like Amazon and make sure they're accurate. That's a really important issue with people who buy used books online.

Good luck to you; if you do it right I can see this becoming pretty profitable for you. I suppose your biggest hurdle will be competing with the counterfeiters.

Many thanks for the advice. We are in the early trial stage of our Taobao shop. We will have both Chinese & English pages on our website. All of the information you suggested will be on our website. We have native English speakers on our staff and are nearly set to go, but the books won't arrive until just after CHinese New Year. By then, we will have a huge stock of secondhand books but also new ones as well.

I am in Beijing now and our used books have just arrived. We worked really hard to sort out our books. (Well, not finished yet) The books are on line now and ready for you to purchase. The website is www.greenbooks.cn Most of the books are quite new and very cheap. If you know anyone who is looking for used books pleae let them know. Our webiste has English and Chinese version so it's quite easy to use. We are updating our stock every day on the website if you are looking for any particular book but you can't find it on the website, just let me know. I will check for you if I have it in stock.

In harbin, 1RMB/馕（nang). I mean the small one. A bigger one is 2RMB.
