Ice Climbing?
Hi. I'm relatively new to Beijing, and trying to find out some information about local ice climbing. Here are a few questions that I have:
(1) Are there any organized groups that do climbs? I'm mainly looking for someone to take the other end of the rope. I'd prefer a group where at least someone speaks some English because my Chinese is still pretty rough and I'm afraid I'd be boring to people otherwise.
(2) I gather that there's some easily accessible climbing in Tao Yuan Xian Gu park near Miyun. Is the climbing ice easy to find from the park entrance, or will people know where it is? Are there better places to go? Good places to stay around there?
(3) My wife doesn't have boots and crampons, and I'm trying to find a place that rents them. Sanfo said they don't. Any suggestions?
I'd welcome any ideas that anyone has. Thanks.

Re: Ice Climbing?
Indeed: Answers are (1) Extreme Adventures (exbear.com) organizes a beginner trip once or twice a year, as does the Chinese Mountaineering Association, and occasionally some folks at Ole gym; there is a community, but otherwise no organized groups. (2) There is another park just West of Fairy Valley where the ice isn't as interesting but is natural and stays formed a little longer. There are places to stay in the general vicinity, albeit a bit scruffy. (3) Nobody rents boots and crampons, though the organized groups do provide them.
Now onto some rock...
