China's Massive Holiday Migration Begins

Quote:
The world's largest annual migration of people begins in China on Sunday with millions of travellers boarding public transport to journey across the vast country for the Lunar New Year celebrations.

The government estimates the number of passenger trips on trains, planes, boats and buses will reach 3.2 billion during the holiday, also known as the Spring Festival, up 9.1 percent from last year.

More details available at http://www.wcarn.com/cache/news/17/17324.html

Personally, I'd try to avoid travelling during this period, but I guess sometimes it's not always up to our own...

every country has most of it's people traveling around on their biggest holiday.

it was interesting the first time i became aware that
it really IS a BIG number of people traveling around at the same time
but after my many years here i say
it would be worth to report on china railways actually doing a GOOD job for ONCE.

every year the same sh*t...

miserable conditions! overpriced tickets! they keep doing it! can you believe it!? Surprise
read on.

Re: China's Massive Holiday Migration Begins

In Beijing, I was stuck in traffic for nearly two hours on Tuesday evening, that was only from the west second ring road to the east third ring road, what a nightmare!

Nowadays, I try to stay in the office or at home whenever I can, I'd rather to have video conference calls instead of meeting up with clients/business partners elsewhere Smile
