Sorry, but that was a stupid thing to say. Why would an American girl want a green card? America has always been seen as a place to go for a better life (not so great these days but still better than many places on earth) so putting down an Asian girl for wanting to live in the U.S. is stupid. If you were born in China and lived in poverty and knew there was no way to move up would you not want to move out as well?

Any man who has had relationships with women know that east, west, blah blah, they are all the same, just as men are all the same, ethnicity does not matter. You peel away ethnicity, then money, then location and you still have man and woman and they for thousands of years have pretty much shown what they want out of life, it has not changed.

Its true that american dream is way overrated. but for some living in shanty towns in asia or somewhere else, yes, having a lawn to mow (in most cases, a decent house) does sound enticing, not as enticing to those who already have them tho. And i dont see how this kind of pursuit is more despicable than say some expats' trying to play along their racist priviledge in bj.

Most my kins and friends stateside struggling to send their offspring to descent colleges or join abroad for holis. Furthermore, they work shiploads of hours with a questionable work/life balance. I really don't know why folks think US is the holy grail. Being European myself i see how different (and in my humble opinion) life quality is in the EU. Me wife and yours truly loved the occasional trips across the ponders to Germany or Ireland while being based in Netherlands. As for the OP s question. Back in my single days, i found western girls (European for that...) far less hassle and more independent then their chinese counterparts. i ve never been asked if i own an apartment or shed nor car nor had to lie about my salary. I know people here have that complex with security/safety and so on and we grew up in a social/welfare state with security nets everywhere. still i would never swampy Beijingnese wife though this is to large extent based on as we met in Europe (she knows the difference in lifestyle) and her parents are treating me like i m a messiah as i was taking care of their little princess. Obviously they re BJren hence will receive a pension and health care, owning their apartment and receiving loads of those plastic cards u can shop for free. Unlikely they ll turn to us for money since they don't even have to spend their own for liven expenses.it s hard to compare as with chinese girls it differs largely on their background/family and experience.My experience tells me western girls are more independent and also help u in terms of household (i m a very tidy person myself so i like it pristine and don't bother doing some dirt work...). Its never me paying all and so on. Asians tend to be more materialistic and on the (in laymen terms...lazy side of d equation) other hand want to be treated as princess... well comes handy with all those oversize Pucci sunglasses and pink gadgetry. So....i was lucky to find a germ. If not for her i would stick to western girls as they accept reasoning and different opinions without being insulted straight away. i have to confess....one child policy created loads of princesses and education mended them into socially often lost people, unable to hold a critical reasoning/argument. Thats said...i can only speak of the few people i met in my 10 years coming to asia
