I'm arriving in Beijing on the 22th of February and I'm going to study at the BLCU. I've just discovered that the Campus is full and I'm looking for a room to rent near the University in Haidian District. BLCU...my alma mater...
To rent a room close to BLCU, the quickest way seems to be talking to housing agencies over there. they'll ask you for commission, which mostly equals to the rent of one month. This can be the last-minute option, I suppose.
My suggestion:
Once you arrive at BLCU, find a closest inn or hotel that you trust, there's a BLCU-owned hotel in the campus of BLCU named BLCU Conference Center(北语会议中心)，the price for a single room is reasonable imo, and facilities inside are good as well. Stay there for the first week and find a local ppl, or chinese students in BLCU to help you find a room to rent. International students can help you too, if they've been here for months or even longer.
Normally, chinese tend to look for room for rent via specific forums or websites, while some of them go to knock the door of housing agencies. Alternatively, putting up notes at cafes in BLCU works too. Also, you'll find notice boards in lots of bars around BLCU, for example, a bar named "Lush" near Wudaokou subway.
