April 15, 2008: Newcomers Salt and Chef Too joined long-time award winners Alameda, Annie's and Made in China as the most decorated dining establishments in the 2008 that's Beijing Reader Restaurant Awards, presented April 15 at a gala ceremony at CJW.Da Dong Roast Duck and Salt shared top honors in the Restaurant of the Year category. Fifty-six restaurants in all were decorated in the annual balloting, which takes place each spring. Sponsors Jebsen Fine Wines, Stella Artois and Arabica Coffee provided wine, beer and coffee to the guests, while Pantry Magic Kitchen Tools, Renewal Spa Club and Immersion Guides all donated free vouchers or products to winners and voters.

March 6, 2008: International Women's Day 2008 with Jo Kent & Friends in Beijing
On March 6 at Block 8's i-Ultra Lounge, Jo and her friends threw their annual charity event benefiting women and children in honor of International Women's Day. This year, over 42,000 RMB was raised to support Half the Sky, an organization that provides nurture, health care and education programs for Chinese orphans in 13 provinces. This

January 26, 2008:AustCham Beijing's Gold & Glamorous Ball maintained its reputation of being the BEST Ball in Beijing. With a star studded line up of special guests featuring Olympians: Raelene Boyle, Andrew Gaze, Gregory Burns, Ping Yali and Ian Thorpe, to rock music legend Gary "Angry" Anderson as well as more than 700 guests. Their presence certainly put the Gold into the Gold & Glamorous theme.
The night was spectacular with over 550,000RMB being raised for two selected organisations; The Australian Paralympics Team and the China Disabled Persons' Federation, a great portion of which came from the successful auctioning of two tickets to the Opening Ceremony of the Beijing Olympics for 200,000RMB.

January 12th, 2008: Urbane magazine held "Beijing 2001-2050" at the Boloni Lifestyle Museum. In collaboration with Italian furniture maker Boloni, Urbane invited three young Beijing-based architects to discuss the future of the city as seen through their new books: Ma Yansong (MAD Dinner), Neville Mars (The Chinese Dream) and Andre Schmidt (Big Bang Beijing). The first event in an ongoing series of discussions and presentations inspired by the pages of Urbane, the discussion drew over 100 guests, who received Urbane and Boloni goodies, and enjoyed sandwiches, cake and wine.
January 5th & 6th, 2008: The 6th annual Redbull Nanshan Open landed again in Beijing this year, with pro international riders soaring high and throwing down huge tricks in the Mellow terrain park, proving snowboarding has finally found a home in China.
