Saturday, February 18 Scottish electro-pop colossus Calvin Harris burned up The One Club on Feb 18 with a storming set of smash hits like "We Found Love." Though tickets were oversold, leading to some chaotic scenes oustide the venue, those who managed to get themselves inside made a riotous night of it.

Saturday, December 31 Nova's New Year's Eve party took place in 798's 751 D-Park. The debut New Year's event included a headline set from one of the most significant figures of the past two decades in British dance music, Darren Emerson, and Chinese DJs including Huang Weiwei, Terry Tu, X.L.F. and Dave K.

Tuesday, January 10 Who'd think, a dark, little rock bar could be jam packed on a Tuesday night. People gathered mid-week as an era in Beijing's underground rock scene comes to an end. A show of eight avant-garde young bands gave D-22's final Zoomin' Night a perfect closure.

Saturday, December 31 Yen’s New Year’s Eve Countdown returned to trendy 798 to ring in 2012. The biggest party of the night brought in a lineup of local legends and veterans that included Dio, Yang Bing, Ou Yang and Slide.

Monday, December 19 The Kro's Nest was crowned the winner in The Beijinger Pizza Cup after beating Gung Ho! in the final. Readers chose Kro's as Beijing's best pizza over 31 other pies in a very cheesy competition. Accepting their trophy on the night were Kro's Nest representatives Marty Handley and Theodore Gao. As a thank you, Kro's offered customers a 12 percent discount for the evening.

Saturday, December 3 The Park Hyatt held an outdoor, eco-friendly tree lighting that featured a tree illuminated with low-energy lightbulbs. Santa and his helpers were there to greet the kids, while a choir filled the air with seasonal sounds.

Saturday, December 10 Kagen joined with Beijing International Committee for Chinese Orphans (BICCO)to host a holiday, charity evening complete with silent auction, live music and a set menu that included some of the restaurant’s signature dishes paired with cocktails. Nearly RMB 200,000 was raised during the night that will go towards benefiting Chinese orphans and children with disabilities in China.

Sunday, December 11 Beijingers matched wits at Chocolate on Sunday for the Beijinger's annual charity pub quiz, with ticket proceeds benefiting the Ping An Medical Foster Home. Trivia questions and prizes were offered up courtesy of Karl from Paddy O’Shea’s, Anthony from The Kro’s Nest, Tom from the Black Sun, Josh from Lush, Pat from the Green Cap, Liz at The Stumble Inn, Graham of the Irish Volunteer, Julian from Tim’s Texas Bar-B-Q and Alex from The Brick, with a special music round presented by "Tuba" John Wood. The night featured prizes and lucky draws, with the Chocolate dancers taking the stage to wrap up the night. A special thanks to all the quiz masters as well as sponsors, BLCU, Catherine de France, Face Bar, Ocean Grounds, Ritz-Carlton Beijing, Villa Castanea, Chimay and Club Chocolate.

Thursday, December 1 Sofitel decided to add a bit of French flair to their tree lighting ceremony with a unique Christmas tree made of delectable French macarons (macaroons) prepared by the hotel's pastry team. It took the pastry team more than a week to create the 5000 macarons to decorate the tree.

Thursday, November 17 US Ambassador to China Gary Locke helped raise the curtain on the US-China Forum on the Arts and Culture at the NCPA on November 17. Ambassador Locke was one of several speakers at the opening ceremony for the three-day event, which kicked off with a press reception and dinner at the US Embassy on Wednesday, November 16. The event was also attended by participating visiting academics, artists, musicians and journalists. Before getting down to a program of panel discussions, film screenings, Q+As and performances, star guests including Joel Cohen, Amy Tan, Yo-Yo Ma, Jonathan Spence, Alice Waters, Charles "Lil Buck" Riley, Damian Woetzel, David Fanning, Eric Fischl, Judith Belzer, Mark Danner, Melissa Chiu, Michael Pollan, Orville Schell and Susan Meiselas also took part in a press conference and Q+A session with the press.
