Quick Jump: THU || FRI || SAT || SUN || MON || TUE || WED
Thursday, August 12 to Wednesday, August 18
Unusually it’s slim pickings this week in terms of live music around Beijing – partly because D-22 is shut for a brief summer hiatus, but mainly because everyone’s saving themselves for the epic Max Star Music Festival up at Ditan Park kicking off on Monday. The festival is on every day next week until Sunday – see here for the full schedule.
It’s rich pickings on the DJing front, however, with two nights of Beijing’s best electronica at Lantern on Friday and Saturday, while El-Mar and Co follow up their recent Aircraft Carrier Party with a Great Pool Party on Saturday. Austria’s electronic finest Electric Indigo (pictured) takes to the stage at Yugong Yishan, also on Saturday.
Note that Friday's lecture by the anarcho-syndicalist intellectual superstar Noam Chomsky listed in last week's "Upcoming" events is now booked out.
For some movies by a filmmaker whose politics Chomsky would probably approve of, check out the Charlie Chaplin Festival at BC MOMA starting this Friday. The festival includes several outdoor screenings, so lets hope the weather stays clear. See our post on the Beijinger blog, which includes the full screening schedule.
