Mixed feelings
This place is both disappointing and appealing at the same time.
+++ :
The sound system is really quite powerful and the balance was good each time I went there, even though sometime up to 10 bands use it every week-end night. The line-up is usually quite good with bands playing the same style the same night (you won't likely hear death metal after emo punk for instance). I think this place does a decent job putting up gigs and finding quality bands to play.
The crowd is almost completely chinese most of the time and it's great to socialize with fellow headbangers so far away from the holy lands of metal.
There are almost no seats in the entire place, and yeah that's a plus, we're talking metal here folks, you don't go listen to that kind of music and sit down drinking your beer.

The drinks!!! It's ridiculously expansive considering the kind of venue it is... While you can get a pint of draft beer for 15 kuai at the D22 just a few steps away from this place, here you will only get a small bottle of qingdao for 20 kuai. The stronger stuff is also disappointing (35-40) and they use the smallest glasses available around, adding a bunch of ice on top of that. THAT is really not the spirit and it really angered me.
The staff isn't friendly for sh**. No use trying to be nice to them or try to have a talk, that's pretty gay.
It closes rather early most of the time- last time was a saturday night and everything was over at around 12h30am, again compared to D22 where sometimes bands keep playing late in the night, it's very disappointing.
So all in all, it's not such a bad choice to go there because as far as I know it's the only 100% metal place in all Beijing- hard to get by in China. But unless there's a very good line up I wouldn't go back there very often- D22 rocks just about as much and at least you can get drunk safely for your wallet.
